Boxing to most is about who's representing your country..and they(pinoys) take that to the heart..and because after him..Filipino boxing will be mediocre with the Donaire, Bautista, Concepcion, etc..so they're holding on tight to their savior.. I don't usually mind them..but it's very true that the vast majority started watching BOXING since I'd say the Pacquiao-De La Hoya fight..some since Marquez II..but a very very small percentage since the first Barrera fight.. That's how long people from the Philippines have been watching the sports. Did you know that boxing fights were being shown in theaters before the advent of television? People from the Philippines have been watching the fights of jersey joe walcott, jack dempsey, joe louis, sugar ray robinson, henry armstrong, rocky marciano and several other fighters since time immemorial.
