Like wtf?
I see alot of people on here saying Mayweather will just run and he can't win throwing 2 punches a round.
You guys act like if Pacquiao is just going to flurry the shit out of Mayweather and KO his ass.
This is just typical fanboy talk with no knowledge at all about probably either fighter.
I personally dont like Mayweather but respect his skills and seen alot of his fights.
The real thing people should watch out for is how Pacquiao handles a guy who a great defensive mind and a counters.
Like someone said before and is true is Mayweather slows a fighter down by being so accurate when countering that it basically works againest you.
I basically see Pacquiao winning the first couple rounds while Mayweather adjusts and then takes over in mid-late rounds.
I don't see how Pacquiao deals with a legit boxer whos seen everything..
to say Mayweather doesnt have a chance people will have a rude awakening soon..
He's been bloodied up a bit though (granted not much) and I think if you look at Vitali quitting on his stool from a shoulder injury as opposed to him wanting to fight on vs Lewis with his eye totally messed up from repeated power shots then you can see how one's heart can be affected by each scenario. Roy Jones didn't quit when he got his first cut against Calzaghe either.
I can understand where you are coming from with the air of invincibility thing, but then that would also apply to Pacquiao, who looked frustrated having to go after Cotto and Floyd is much more elusive.
To me it depends when the cut is suffered. If the cut is inflicted early, then it effects the pace of the rest of the fight. If late, then the fighter can just try to "gut through it" and depend on the earlier rounds..
Also PBF prides himself on having that unblemished face of his.. I think his vain self would be effected more by a large ugly gash of a cut than a broken hand.. lol
But seriously, I really expect Pacquiao to have better footwork in this fight than he did against Cotto. They will train specifically for closing the distance with Floyd. Pac was taken surprise in the Cotto situation because he came to that fight to stand toe to toe practically.. He got it into his mind he wanted to beat Cotto at his own game. I just hope he doesn't try to do that with Floyd..

Floyd's heart shouldn't be questioned too much, he fought on vs Castillo with an injured shoulder and has fought with broken hands and still won fights. Why do people just magically think he'd quit because he's getting hit? Is it cos he hasn't lost yet? Or because he's been good enough not to be in a position to even think about quitting?
Manny didn't seem too happy against Agapito and many believe he wanted to quit...so why don't people say he might quit against Mayweather? I don't really question either fighters heart.
Floyd's body is durable.. His weakness in the shoulder roll is body shots. he can only guard them on the left side with that one arm. But he takes body shots well.
Question:
Do you believe having a hurt shoulder or hand is just as taxing on a fighters heart as taking multiple power shots to the dome? What about after that fighter's illusions of invincibility are dispelled and he is rattled and/or kd'ed?
What if Pretty Boy's Face is battered and bruised...cut up? Would these be similar tests to his heart, or different in nature?

Call PBF jab a flea flicker all you want but for 40 fights that jab has been put in peoples faces, chest and pit of they stomach CONSISTENTLY. Over the course of the fight it has always had an affect. Getting hit consistently round after round adds up. It will add up on Manny just like everybody else. Power has always been overrated even though its a great thing to have.
I'm going by what i've seen in his last couple of outings. Perhaps a mistake. Vintage Floyd might be lurking. I still remember that jab to the body against ole mullet boy back in the dizzay... Shit was beautiful.
I would go with unwilling, as he has stated in interviews that there is nothing "cool" about taking punishment.
Truth is we don't know how good or bad his chin is. We may find out in March, but to say either way now is uneducated.
Well lets go with unwilling then.
that still speaks volumes about how he will handle being "uncool"
will he quit? Will his willpower hold?
As for JMM, Logically, it is more feasible to give consideration's edge to a proven chin (jmm's) than to a theoretical chin (Floyd's)
Why bring up the Hernandez KD, obviously I meant from a punch received. JMM has been knocked down by single punches that didn't seem as hard as some shots Floyd has taken. Floyd has taken shots from bigger men than JMM has also. Marquez got knocked down 3 times in 1 round vs Pac so that weren't down to accumulation. He got KD'd by Floyd in round 2 by a single left hook.
This was after a long career of wars.
Marquez has had a lot of wear and tear over the years.
Even still, Floyd was alot bigger than him.. and Pac is pac... getting KD by him is nothing to be ashamed of. It might even happen to Floyd too. Besides, he came back after that to go life and death with the dangerous Pacquao. Similarly, the formidable Mayweather couldn't knock him out even though he had him like a fish in a barrel.
So, chin is an all inclusive term that also includes heart and will
The question is whether Floyd's flea flicker jab will actually disrupt or reset pacquio...or whether it will be a minor annoyance that he just walks through.

Floyd doesn't have a chance with Pac at all as FLOYD WILL NEVER ENTER THE RING WITH MANNY ON IT!
That's the truth.
when ppl try to make threads to actually discuss the fight IN THE RING, these are the best kind of responses you can give?
I am not biased. I invite you to see other threads where I have defended mayweather from various spurious allegations. Also, see where I argued on Floyd's behalf in the thunderdome with some guy named Liquor or some such.
Now- Imagine if Floyd got hit as much as JMM. Do you honestly think he never would have been down? After all out wars where he uses his face as a pinata against his opponent?
LOL
Floyd developed that defense of his to avoid such an eventuality. He is either unwilling, or unable to weather such sustained punishment. I'd go with the latter.

Yes, I discussed this earlier in the thread..Marquez may have been down.. but he's never been out. And he gets hit 4576256436 times more than Floyd. Floyd gets hit by single shots, when someone manages to find a way to sneak a power punch in through his guard. But he has never been hit by consecutive powerful shots.. and those are what really test a chin.
Also Floyd has been down. Broke his hand on Carlos Hernandez's dome, and took a voluntary knee.

An "educated guess"?
How is it educated seeing as though you also admit it has never been truly tested?
Seems pretty uneducated, and biased as you clearly are a fan of Pac.
I'm a fan of neither fighter. Both destroyed my favourite fighter in Hatton. Both beat JMM as well.
I could care less who wins - all I want is a great fight. But IMO Mayweather has the right style to beat Pac. He will struggle early on, and may even get hurt at some point. But I think after 3 or 4 rounds, he will begin to toy with Pac a little bit and beat him by UD or SD.

Common things that I've noticed with this fight is that people think either fighter won't be competitive. I think it will be highly competitive, especially early on.
Floyd's power has been underrated and I think Manny's one punch power has been overrated. I think it will be a hell of a tactical fight but it isn't simply defence vs offence, as they both have capabilities in both areas, although I believe Floyd to be a much more rounded fighter.
It wasn't so much of Manny's head literally snapping back, I was more surprised of Cotto landing his jab at will.
I don't think Floyd intends to knock people down with his jab, but everytime he uses it, it's used to disrupt his opponent which is just what Cotto did to Manny when he used his jab.
Given Floyd's recent outing against JMM, it looks like he's trying to bring back his jab to be consistent with it as much as he was in the past.
I'm aware Cotto got blown out, but given how he was able to land his jab when he wanted to, plus Floyd's recent outing with Marquez, I feel his jab could be an important tool than most realize in this fight.
The question is whether Floyd's flea flicker jab will actually disrupt or reset pacquio...or whether it will be a minor annoyance that he just walks through.
Mayweather's hasn't been ever truly tested, due to that excellent defense of his... So I'm making an educated guess.
One that is probably right, btw.

Come on now Floyd HAS been hit before...He has a great defence so he doesn't get hit with combos but he has been hit many times in his career and has never been down (let's not bring up the Zab possible KD that punch didn't hurt him at all)
Marquez on the other hand has been down 5 times in fights against Mayweather and Pacquiao alone.

Yes Floyd's style is wrong for PAc, but Pac still beat Marquez who's style was wrong for Pac. Yes Floyd is bigger and more accurate, but not as fast or as agressive at 147 as Marquez was against pac.. Now pac is bigger and just about the same speed, and not to mention more powerful. So what this means is that this is looking to be an epic fight that will be close.
Floyd at 147 may not be faster than Floyd at 130 but he's faster than Marquez at any weight in every way.
True..but a couple things to consider:
Cotto is a left hand dominant fighter.. A converted southpaw, so his jab is one of his most deadly weapons. He knocked Clottey down with his jab.
Manny ate those jabs..and some strong left hooks besides, and still walked forward. His punch resistance is something else.
Floyd's jab, a flicker thing from down around his waist, is more a disruption and setup tool than a deterring damage dealer
Why? The same jab knocked down Clottey. Of course it'll snap an opponents' head back, it's powerful. But did it even matter in the end? Pacquiao gave away the first round and purposely got himself tagged. There was no other point in the fight where Cotto was in control. In fact, he was never even in control of the first round, he was just falling into Pacquiao's game plan.
It wasn't so much of Manny's head literally snapping back, I was more surprised of Cotto landing his jab at will.
