Listen, I never bought into the Williams Hyped because I was bitter that he beat my boy Tony but after watching more of his fights and his crowd pleasing style I started liking the Punisher and I rode the bandwagon. Last night I had mixed emotions because I also happen to like Maravilla, two dudes who went toe to toe with Tony in the past but I ended up giving the edge to Martinez because he seemed like the "underdog" going to that fight according to most critics, I knew he had an extremely high chance to win and he showed it last night.
That judge who scored that fight and gave Martinez a round should be fired immediately, this has been the second consecutive fight where he has scored this way and robbed Funeka of a win. Paul knew he had lost that fight, his face showed it, not just the bruises and cuts, he had a face of defeat, he knew he got a gift and Martinez again is robbed of a win just like what happened against that idiot Cintron. To my eyes and to the majority of real boxing fans Martinez is now the most feared man in boxing after the ass whooping he put on Williams last night and the incredible display of boxing he showed, a perfect combination of aggressiveness, elusiveness, quickness and power.
I was pulling for Sergio, as he was the underdog. I thought he could easily have gotten a close decision, but I also thought the same could be said about P. Will. It was just a close fight with several rounds that were difficult to score. Williams kept up a high work rate, was an effective aggressor and landed more punches. Martinez was elusive, was more accurate with his punches and landed the cleaner, more effective shots. Both men fought win guts and determination. I would have been quite content with a draw.
The only real complaint I have about that fight is that they apparently allowed someone off the street to function as the third "judge."
maybe if he had won, but he didn't
He won that fight and you know it, what else does the guy have to do to win a fight? the same way he got robbed of a win against Cintron, gimme a break, he made Paul look like a fool, yes he hung in there and was aggressive but he got hit at will all night.
Martinez has great skills that shouldn't be overlooked. He was making Paul look a clown at some points in the fight. Some of those right hooks were perfect!
