Just like Quintana.
Think about it.
This may have been Sergio's best performance to one of Williams' worst performances and Williams still CLEARLY won the fight.
I agree he clearly pulled the fight out in the championship rounds. Martinez had nothing left, and Paul would have finished him if he would have landed one more good combination. Martinez is a great fighter though, and he showed guts. I think Paul would beat him again, but I wouldn't want the fight if I were Paul. There are bigger and better things out there for him than a stylistic nightmare that brings nothing but a reputation to the table.
Martinez shows up in better shape in a re.. and probably at 154 where his belt is at stake...
Think about it..... -.-;
Also.. he used his righ thand all fight.. then pulls a left out the bag.
The dude boxed, he banged, he did everything. He has many switches he can use against paul.. a longer camp for a rematch with better conditioning.. he will do a lot of things to confuse paul.
Complete dominance by SERGIO MARTINEZ.
Biggest robbery since Pernell Chavez fight.
lol wtf are you talking about?
Holyfield-Lewis I?
Trinidad-De La Hoya?
De La Hoya-Sturm?
Ben Rabah-Urango?
Casamayor-Santa Cruz?
Did you just start watching boxing again this week for the first time since the early 90s?
I agree that this was just about the worst Williams has ever looked and by far the best Martinez has ever looked. But I don't think Williams clearly won it. Lots of swing rounds.
wow some of you guys must be drinking the jim lampley martinez juice.
martinez landed some NICE lefts in the championship rounds but for the most part, dude was fumbling around and trying to tackle Williams. Williams was still using his jab for the most part and being very effective with it.
both fighters IMO showed a lot. Williams struggled but he showed a bunch of heart and a good chin and still after being hurt, he was still being the aggressor.
martinez showed his ability to adjust, his counter punching and his slickness.
Clearly won? BS, Martinez deserved a draw. There is no way either fighter won more than 7 rounds. Martinez showed an excellent chin in there and I don't think Williams would be able to solve him ever, Martinez has an awkward style and would always make a tough fight with Williams.
If Martinez was a bigger puncher then Pwill would have not been getting off the canvas last night. Some of the shots landed flush on the chin but props to Paul his chin is made of granite but he cant afford to be taking shots like off bigger punchers a la Pavlik, he will get knocked out.
"Clearly won that fight"??? I had it 115-114 Martinez - this fight could have absolutely gone either way - a draw would have been a proper verdict...a counter-puncher with power is going to knock P-Will silly...

Quintana lost the second time because he was caught with a bomb and didn't even clinch for dear life, that doesn't erase the fact that Williams has shown trouble adapting to that kind of style.
i agree with that.
the thing that troubled me was that williams really didnt make any changes in the fight BUT at the same time, he proved his style and work rate can win out and he did.
wasn't a good look for him but it was a great action fight which I'll take any day of the week over a one sided fight as a boxing fan.
martinez made a ton of adjustments but williams just kept coming back and back even after those lefts were tagging him.
