Question for those who follow Pbf through the years.
It is an honest question. I do not follow him as much as I follow Pac so I do not know. I often get the impression that most of his opponents go headhunting. IMO, I believe that their mindset is that Pbf's chin is suspect. But, did anyone ever really go for Pbf's body hard and what was Pbf's reaction to it?
Thanks.
Another one to add to the list is Jesus Chavez.
Threads like this prove that people commenting on Floyd often haven't seen his fights.
The thing about that fight is, Floyd blocked most of the body punches and the commentators would credit JC for punches that didn't land. Around that time, people know Floyd had good d however they didn't understand how great it was yet. I remember Floyd hitting JC with about 10+ uppercuts while JC was trying to dig the body before Larry Merchant even commented on them.

Thanks man for Chavez. But I did say the bold in the OP. Just followed his fight from Gatti up. The rest I saw from highlights on Youtube and such. Never really became a serious boxing fan until EM beat Pac. Seriously, I was nuthugger of pac until that fight. That fight though opened me up to other fighters and their own styles. Cheers.
I have all his fights on DVD, PBF was hit alot in the body by Sosa, Chavez, Hernandez, and even recently DLH and Hatton. PBF has a good chin and can take a punch. He only gets dazed but recuperates fast. When Corley hurt him he came back almost immediately with a vengence.
I actually think its foolish to go headhunting on fighters like PBF who have great movement, like Clancy said during the Hagler vs SRL, the body dosent move.
If you watch Floyd train, he prepares his body well. When Chop Chop Corley was sparring with Mayweather, he was quoted as saying, "I have a new training regiment. I'm doing 500 sit-ups a day." Anyone can be hurt with a body punch, it's my hypothesis that Floyd can take a good body shot because of his fight preparations. Also the main focus of Floyd's offensive attack is to break the body down. I'm pretty sure it would be common sense for him to prepare himself for the way he attacks offensively.
Castillo is a better inside fighter than Pac, IMO. I don't think we've ever seen Pac dig to the body on the inside against anyone, he's more of a midrange fighter so he can get full extension on his left cross which is his bread and butter.
Castillo is indeed a better body puncher. But pac did break EM with them as well as set up the first KD in the Cotto fight.

Thanks. I'll look it up. It seems that all of your answers are Castillo 1. Is it safe to say that he never have been hit that way again? Incidentally, most opined that this is his hardest fight. Hmmm... Next question, will pac be able to dig to that body? I do know that Castillo have an advantage in dimensions and possibly fight night weight. Something that Pac does not have ... as well as a reach disadvantage.
I'm gonna get me that video and come up with my own opinion. Thanks a lot guys.
Castillo did but that was just more of who those guys were at the time. It was Floyd's 1st fight at LW and he looked a little frail while JLC was a super strong huge bully at that weight. IDK how to describe how Floyd handled it but most dont go to Floyd's body because he's quick enough to jump back and its easier for him to counter you when you go down there. He also keeps that left hand so low that its just bait for cats. They just know that they can take his head off when they see that so they go head hunting but he never gets hit
