Toney over Nunn, Jirov, and Holyfield
Hopkins over Tito, Tarver, and Pavlik
I thought these were there 3 most important victories. I would love to hear NSB thoughts
Toney has the better wins. His wins are against top fighters spanning 50+ pounds and he wasn't 16 at 160 either. Not degrading Pacquiao, but Toney should get as much credit for what he's done as far as going through the divisions.
But, again, must lose a lot for showing up as a fat, unprofessional slob too often, losing his biggest fight without showing up, Tiberi, Thadzi, blowing a Heavyweight belt on roids etc.

But McCallum deserved to win the second where he clearly outworked Toney.
I thought Mike might have edged it as well but very few make the case. Thumbs up to you. Close fight either way; Toney ewas more decisive the first time than any case for Mike in the return.
And, hey, their third fight was awesome too though always overlooked. Both guys chucked like 1K apiece.
I'm seriously scratching my head though at what wins Hopkins has, based on quality of opp, which trump Toney's best wins? I factor Toney's flaws into seeing him as a less great fighter than Hopkins, but the wins edge is pretty strong IMO. Tito, Pavlik and Wright aren't all that competitive with the Nunn or McCallum Toney beat.
McCallum-Toney I (the draw in the series) is one of the best technical battles I've ever seen. Just a beauty (and Toney deserved the nod).
Hopkins will, and should, go down as the greater fighter...but both on their best day, I'd lean to Toney.
I'm a little surprised anyone would favor Hopkins wins. The magnitude of some was bigger, but Hopkins still hasn't beaten anyone as good as McCallum or, arguably, the Nunn Toney took on.

You forgot Wink, Johnson.
What was so special about Jirov anyway, who did he beat of real quality?
Holyfield got a Boxing lesson from Larry Donald in his next fight, that is how overrated that win is. Holyfield also lost 1st fight to Ruiz in truth, Ruiz was robbed in the first fight.

Good post, completely agree.
I forget about McCallum all the time. He is so underrated, it's a shame

You left Toney's best win off...McCallum. Toney probably has some better wins, and more fights against better opposition. Nunn, McCallum and Johnson were all better than any Middleweight Hopkins fought, much less beat.
He also has professionalism issues Hopkins doesn't. Hopkins would never have a Tiberi night, never got 12-0 drubbed, and never lost outright to Drake Thadzi.
