I know you Jones haters out there are loving this but I felt really sad watching a legend, one of the best ever get knocked silly by an average fighter. Credit to Green, he did his job well but Jones is way way past his best and would have demolished Green in his prime, you all know that. Just pretty sad right now.
Green tries a jab to the chest from far outside. Jones tries to counter him with a long left hook and leaves himself wide open for straight right.
Jones sees the punch coming and decides to duck it, whilst his left hand slowly moves to block, but the punch catches him on the ear-top head area. You can kind of see he is about to go through the ducking motion when the punch takes effect and he sprawls across the canvas.
I'm shocked that the person to end Roy's career is Danny Green and that it happened in Australia, not in Roy's own country. Thats a dissapointing end to a career in my eyes.
On a different note, I dunno how these referees act so quickly after a legend like Roy is knocked down.
If that was me I'd be like :omfg::omfg::omfg: Roy just got put down!!!!
Then I'd start the count :lol1:
i don't feel sad for that guy, f*ck him, i'm just sad that it wasn't hopkins knocking him out.
roy jones is a prick as far as im concerned, i've mentioned it before, i was at a fight, if i remember right it was barerra vs morales 3, and roy was there, he was walking towards me, looked me right in the eye when i went to shake his hand and say hi, looking me right in the eye, i can still see it replaying in my head, he snubbed me like was a IRS agent giving him an audit. no crowd noise, no one else around, a total cock sucker move. so ever since then, i relish watching jones get stretched out..............
He should have retired years ago. Roy lived from his reflexes but they are gone, even though it was a bit like a lucky punch that Green landed. Roys stile doesnt work at this age though, if you are a Boxer living from speed and reflexes you wont be successfull at 40 years. B-Hop is the perfect blueprint how to do it as an old man, you need ring generalship, outsmart your opponent, be intelligent and skillfull. I hope now that Roy is out, Hopkins fights Dawson that would be a classic!
It was a sad day seeing Roy get beat that easily by a limted fighter. Green was a solid puncher with good fitness and heart, nothing more. Even do Roy was past his best, I still thought he had enough left to box the ears off Green.
The same Green who was given a boxing lesson at the hands of fellow Aussie Anthony Mundine, who although is a good fighter is nothing special, and who had suffered a KO defeat to Sven Okkte and a points loss to Manny Siaca.
But it just shows me how much of a washed up fighter Roy is. His punch resistance has faded and he has no legs or reflexes no more. It also goes to show me how washed up Jeffy Lacy and Omar Sheika are, two men who Roy destroyed this year.
But I will remember Roy at his peak. Jones at the peak of his powers, attempted things no boxer had ever attempted before. Whether it was Jabbing from a distance, or hitting and slipping from mid range, throwing fast explosive combinations on the inside.
At his best Jones threw the Boxing textbook out the window, but he was that gifted he could probaly wirte his own on the art of boxing.
Jones possesed uncanny speed, reflexes and ring intelligence. On his best day, Roy would of been a problem for any fighter around his weight classes.
In his remarkable career. Roy was a 4 weight division champion, which included winning titles from Middleweight to Heavyweight. Thanks for the memories Roy.......

did roy really retire?
what kind of stuff did he land on roy and how did he set it up? roys defense has been a little wierd lately
he is now a journeyman and augustus burton is teaching the way....of faking it....
It was beyond ****ed up, I can't believe this shit. How does Green get the shit kicked out of him by Anthony Mundine but some how manages to KO this version of Roy Jones Jr? What the **** happened? I know triangle theories don't work, but Mundine fights like a shittier version of Roy Jones Jr.
I really believe if Green didn't catch Roy early in the first few rounds Roy more than likely would have out boxed Green.
I know you Jones haters out there are loving this but I felt really sad watching a legend, one of the best ever get knocked silly by an average fighter. Credit to Green, he did his job well but Jones is way way past his best and would have demolished Green in his prime, you all know that. Just pretty sad right now.
seeing rj go out like that is so strange , doesnt even feel real to me
