I did a little research on Roy Jones Jr. and the opposition he fought as a SMW.
Jones was in essense fighting in the 168 lb division from 1993 until 1996.
Keys:
RED = Eventually fought them or fought them already
BLUE = Fought them in that year.
The year end rankings of 1992 looked like this:
1: Michael Nunn
2: Iran Barkley
3: Chris Eubank
4: Victor Cordoba
5: Nigel Benn
6: Tim Littles
7: Darrin Van Horn
8: Tony Thornton
9: Frankie Liles
10: Frank Nicotra
He fought Thornton in 1995.
1993:
1: James Toney
2: Michael Nunn
3: Chris Eubank
4: Nigel Benn
5: Tim Littles
6: Darrin Van Horn
7: Frankie Liles
8: Tony Thornton
9: Antoine Byrd
10: Vincenzo Nardiello
1994: Jones enters the list at no. 1 after beating Toney.
1: Roy Jones Jr.
2: Nigel Benn
3: Chris Eubank
4: Frankie Liles
5: Vinny Pazienza
6: Tim Littles
7: Michael Nunn
8: Ray Close
9: Graciano Rocchigiani
10: Antoine Byrd
1995:
1: Roy Jones Jr.
2: Nigel Benn
3: Steve Collins
4: Frankie Liles
5: Tim Littles
6: Vinny Pazienza
7: Bryant Brannon
8: Henry Wharton
9: Michael Nunn
10: Ray Close
1996:
1: Roy Jones Jr.
2: Frankie Liles
3: Steve Collins
4: Vinny Pazienza
5: Robin Reid
6: Henry Wharton
7: Michael Nunn
8: Vincenzo Nardiello
9: Joseph Kiwanuka
10: Thulani Malinga
At the end of 1996 Jones had moved up.
So Jones work after 4 years at 168 lb consist of an excellent win over Toney and not much else:
Toney
Thornton
Pazienza (LOL)
Byrd
Brannon
Jones never fought a top 3 opponent after Toney. He had 6 fights at 168 after beating him. Of those fights he beat an unranked Thornton, a suspected juiced lightweight in Pazienza, a past it Byrd, a never was in Sosa, a young non-threat in Lucas and a veteran of 16 fights in Brannon.
So the deserving fighters Jones didn't fight (or ducked as it's called on NSB) is these guys:
Nunn
Benn
Eubank
Collins
Barkley
Cordoba
Littles
Van Horn
Liles
Nardiello
Close
Rocchigianni
Nicotra
Let's face it. A Nunn or a Benn or a Eubank or a Liles or even a Collins would have been real nice.
(I hope I didn't miss anyone :) )
How did he avoid them? Explain. I'm interested in seeing how you realized this. did he refuse negotiations? What efforts did these other fighters make? And Im not talking about saying "I want to fight" on TV.
Facts are that he didn't fight them so his resume is lacking. Stop trolling.
Plane? Oh yeah I should have guessed that you're flying HIGH tonight.
I said 'avoided' which on NSB translates to 'duck'. I made that quite clear so most sober people could understand.

That it would've been nice if he fought a few names? Yeah, I saw that and the Ring lists you copied and pasted. But that has nothing to do with the thread title. So who did he duck and how did he duck them? How did you become aware? Specific, please. I'm hopping on a plane - will be back to discuss.

What did I say in the opening post?

He looked fantastic against Toney.
Yeah he missed some guys but he was so fricking fast in his prime.
Nunn would've been a terrific fight, and Benn of course to name a few.
I was one of the people who didn't care all that much for DM to be honest.
I would have loved to see him against Nunn at the time. I wasn't that interested in a Benn fight. In retrospect a Benn fight could have been very interesting given the fact that Jones didn't face punchers...
if they cant beat his record i dont see what's wrong with that
Yeah horrible ANALogy because sprinting can be measured on flat times and compared.
But you shouldn't expect much from this one, he's the one that thinks the Joe Calzaghe Roy Jones fight means something.
Out of shape Toney, inexperienced B-Hop and he got dominated by Calzaghe. Jones fans always say that he would have beat them anyway, so what? That's like giving Usain Bolt the 100m gold medal at the next Olympics without him even running because "he would have beat them anyway" Roy Jones was one of the most talented boxers ever but he was a coward that didn't want to take risks.

Do you regularly inhale glue or are you just really ****ing stupid? Man Joe fans are ****ing mouth breathers. Must be sad being that idiotic.
Oh come on, do you know what Roy Jones wouldve done to Iran Barkley??? Pffff
he woulda beat Ben and nunn and all those guys. Looking back, the guy has fought James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Joe Calzaghe, John Ruiz, Antonio Tarver and beat all of them except Calzaghe cause he was past his prime. Hop Toney and Zag are 3 hall of famers... Who the **** is Steve Collins

The Calzaghe win was more humiliating imo.
He just toyed w/ him and didn't finish him out of respect. Joe's a sportsman like that.
Bullshit, how is not gonna ko him outta respect, yet like you said he was clowning and tryin to embarass Roy. If was showing respect he wouldn't have stuck his chin out with his hands down and shit.
Tarver kier him and hurt him in the rematch, Johnson koed him, green koed him, Calzaghe couldn't even wobble Roy.

Nah..I'm sure he knew that he culd beat them but he probably didn't think he can look as good against them as he did against guys like Piazzenza
He was doing what Floyd has been doing for the past few years..ducking hard fights even though he could have won them
Exactly, so he wouldn't have destroyed them. He probably would have beat them, but destroy them? No way.
