Did a prime Roy Jones Jr always have a low punch resistance but used his extraordinary skills to avoid being hit hard? Or did his punch resistance only get diminshed through age/weight jumping?
playing with your weight, eventualy coming in weight drained, has a toll on the body foo' :luvbed:
Yes i agree. Fighting at heavyweight and then coming down again, not used to fighting speedy guys again. And he would have been hit more by littler guys because his reflexes had slowed from coming down.
So its a combination of weak chin and the weight playing.
His left hand was down, his usual arrogant stance...ofcourse he'll run into a punch sooner or later..Greens camp had a gameplan and realized that they could take advantage of RJJ's style...left hand down...throw a right hand bomb and bye bye RJJ
the 3 ko's were from punches roy didn't see.
and yes i reckon his chin was always bad...i remember in the 1st round of the ruiz fight, his legs went for a bit when ruiz caught him with a short right hand (same spot that green caught him)
SEE 4min 12 sec mark of clip:
punch resistance is such a stupid word, I guess fighters like marvin hagler, muhammed ali, and george chuvalo had mountains of it.
You either can take a good punch or you cant, and it doesnt matter sometimes, you get hit with something you dont see coming you will get KTFO.
Honestly, this loss is a big hit for Jones. More so than anyone else. Knocked out 3 times? How many great fighters did that happen to in such a manner?
Its obvious he never had a good chin. Its not like his chin has got weak by taking continued punishment is it. He never got hit hardly and that was talked about all the time that he didnt get hit.
When he did get hit he was knocked out big time.

I think prime Roy just never got hit hard. His inability to take a good shot was always a weakness. Kinda makes you wonder had he taken on power punchers like michaelzeski. Im sure i spelled that wrong
See...nobody really knows? He never got hit, he was so damn quick and his reflexes were on another level....no one hit him properly so it could be he had a great chin and that coming from Heavyweight down to Light Heavyweight after beating Ruiz ****ed him up.....or it could be that his chin always sucked and that he just never got hit?? Your guess is as good as mine.
