Asked if he would now consider retiring, Jones said: ''Maybe, I don't know. I will go back home and see. I am 40, I've done everything I needed to. I tried and I didn't have what it takes. I knew it was going to be a tough fight, but I never underestimated him. He just landed a good shot. That's boxing. It happens.''
he killed himself going down to fight tarver, he thought it would be a smart decision going up to cruiserweight?...
hope everything goes well with his post-boxing life.
good. I just hope he stays retired. I actually gave Green a chance though, did you guys ever see his sparring session with Toney? Dude is pretty damn tough.
I wish he did retire after the Glen Johnson fight, but some fighters have too much pride to retire after a KO like that, after the first Tarver fight JOnes said "one mega fight is me and mike tyson if i don't get tyson....i am done." It would have been great if he left after the first tarver fight since his record's only blemish would have been that DQ on the first Griffith fight.
He was never the same after the Ruiz fight, he looked slow and weak in that first Tarver fight. It happens to most great fighters, they stay around too long.
He should have retired after the Glenn Johnson Ko, very embarrassing ko loss tonight.

Wise decision.
Thanks for the memories Roy, best fighter of the 90s and not only one of the most gifted and athletic boxers ever, but one of the most entertaining.
In his prime, today's result would have been the same, a 1st round KO....but the other way around.
