All he has to do is beat Mayweather and his seat in office is sealed.
Either that or threaten to never fight again if he loses his seat in office.
Filipino's want to see Pac fight, getting votes is easy for Pac if he threatens not to fight Mayweather unless Chiongbian drops out of the race.
With his level of stardom there is so much he can say and do to get both the fight done and get his seat in office.
So why doesn't he?
he could've just run his own party list of pinoy athletes
less political, more on supporting our own athletes competing worldwide
i believe he presides over the Partido ng mga Bayaning Atleta or PBA
around the world? in the u.s.? yes.
but not in philippines.
pacquiao was a superstar already.
there comes a point when you can't get any more popular. in philippines , pacquiao was already popular before delahoya , hatton , cotto , etc.
those fights help his popularity in the u.s. and u.k. but not in the philippines.
this is true.. pac is already a superstar even before DLH.... been on multiple scandal with ara mina and his scandal on punching someone in a bar...
even with that popularity, he lost the election

Exactly what i said just with different series of letters.
You think it hasn't reached a new plateau since the Oscar fight and more recently the Cotto fight?
Its the same. HBO and Roach are exaggerating about Pac becoming bigger after DLH. He's been a Superstar since the Ledwabba fight.
THere are no recorded crime during his fights ever since Barrera. There's not much difference in the Philippines. The BIG Difference is the International Boxing scene.

Pac is a demi-god in the Philippines, true. The reason for his poor showing in elections are;
1. Some people differentiate his ability to box from his ability to be an effective politician (small minority IMO) and
2. Pac keeps running in after congressional seats in local districts where there are entrenched local "political warlords" who have experience and machinery to win even over a popular national icon like Pac. Ironically, Pac would be better off running for positions that have a national electoral base.
Nah. If ever a Mayweather fight will push through this March, whoever wins, I see a rematch. Either group will find an excuse to justify their win/loss. For example, if Pacquiao loses, their group can claim its because he is distracted with the campaign trail. If Mayweather loses, he can come up with a dozen reasons why. I don't think there is no more future for Pacquiao, as long as the $$$$ is there, and Pacquiao has had several rematches/trilogies in his career, so why not one with Mayweather? That should keep him busy all the way to 2011.
Good point. They might be thinking rematch.

his star level hasn't risen in philippines the last few years.
pacquiao was a superstar in philippines since 122-126

I know, but his star power has reached another level since his last 3 fights.
He could sell out a stadium in the Philippines just by playing checkers with Buboy.

true, but he was already an icon in the philippines back then. A lot of people didnt vote for him then because they felt it would mean less time available for his boxing career. I don't know if that would be the case now. but if I were to be a voting constituent in his area, I wouldn't vote for him partly because I want him to stay focused in boxing, but that's just me.
I know what you mean, but I think that most people believe that if Pac beat Mayweather there is not much left for him to do in the sport anyway, so why not vote him into a cushy political seat?
his ass been whooped before, politics you need a strategy, you dont just come with a one style of fight and a bad beard expecting to win a seat.
Omg....
.............

He lost by landslide the last time he ran for a congressional seat. So its not a sure thing.
