According to Doug Fischer, a Southern California-based reporter, he was:
During his camp for Shane Mosley he was getting his ass kicked on a daily basis by a novice junior welterweight and a young journeymen. These kids (Said El-Harrak and Henry Mitchell) weren’t just outboxing Margarito. They were slapping the s__t out of him. I’d seen Margarito go toe-to-toe with strong middleweights in the gym for years and he usually got the better of the bigger men. But, suddenly, he was no longer able to stand his ground and take the punishment he once did. http://www.ringtv.com/blog/1367/dougies_monday_mailbag/
But he didn't take the punishment that Cotto took that night. Those kinda fights can be a career changer for a boxer.
I agree 100% and think your right, but I'm really hoping you're wrong just this once...lol.
lol wow...:fing26:
i felt sorry 4 marg watchin it live :(
Check this thread/article out about Naaz and margo's wraps And tell me you feel sorry for him again. :sad2:
Ah...that was very satisfying, watching Shane beat the daylights out of marg.
I didn't even skip to 6:58...i watched the whole thing. :D

I don't think Cotto is finished. He needs an overhaul, yeah, but he's still young. He has the ability to make a comeback. Manny lost more times than he did and look where Manny is.

Margarito went into his camp out of shape and it was all down hill from there. Do I think that Mosley would beat him ten times out of ten? Probably. But Margarito probably wouldn't have gotten KOd the way he did. And don't let this fool you about Shane's chances against Berto. Mosley is gonna give that boy a good thumping.
I'm saying the Rocky 4 knockdown is unrealistic. Just that the Margarito knockdown reminds of it a little bit, or the closest thing I've seen to it. Margarito just stands there wobbling around the ring taking shots off Shane without reply, for what seems like ages and not going down. In a way like Ivan Drago did, obviously Shane didn't land as many flush shots as Rocky did. It's still funny none the less.
I hear you, what I'm saying is it can't be unrealistic if it's happened before.
Man, if you dive into the boxing archives for fights, there's bound to be at least 1 where someone absorbs a Rocky 4 amount of punches.
They wouldn't let it happen to that extent anymore, but now I remember Dempsey-Willard being brutal. You should check that one out for a Rocky-like knockdown.
Can't be as unrealistic you say it is, if it's happening in real life. Can't think of any examples, but I'm sure it wasn't the first time something like it has happened.

prior to the Mosley fight Viva Mexico made a thread saying that Margarito was past his prime
Yeah, but unless he was in the camp, watching the sessions, he was guessing. Fischer would visit the Margarito camps a lot even before Cotto, so it's basically confirmation.
I just watched the Mosley v Margarito round 8 knock down:
Reminds me a lot like an unrealistic Rocky knockdown, where they land like 50 punches before the opponent finally falls down:

Well, he was eating Mosleys shots for a while.
Maybe Cotto did a bit more damage then anyone thought.
But we all now Margarito ruined Cotto, I bet Cotto still has flashbacks of that night.
We saw the Cotto who was scared to death from Margarito in the Clottey fight briefly, and he appeared once again for the last few rounds in the Pac fight. Cotto is finished.

maybe that's why capetillo used the illegal pads for this fight only and didn't use it for cotto or others, he wasn't getting beat up in sparring going into the cotto fight
You cant keep blocking punches with your face, I have seen this scenario happen over and over again, I believe he took too much punishment in winning against Cotto.
