Didn't Floyd say he'd love to fight Lazcano, Johnston and Spadafora? I often wonder why some fights truly didn't happen, because there is a lot of behind the scenes info that we will never know. He also said he tried to make the Casa fight happen but negotiations didn't go anywhere, so I don't know about that Casamayor quote....you can never know who to believe in this sport.
I must say that Floyd is more avoided than he is given credit for...
Mayweather had bigger things on his mind, making the move to 135 because Castillo > everyone else.
He then had the same thought for 140, having Tszyu on his radar after cleaning out 135. He fought two fights in order to become the mandatory for the WBC title, which Gatti now had because Tsyzu lost to Hatton. After fighting the biggest money fight available at 140 (Gatti), both Cotto and Hatton declined fights with Mayweather.
Seeing as there were bigger and better things at 147, he moved into the division and fought Judah and Baldomir, who were both the top rated welterweights at the time. Baldomir > Margarito because Margarito was coming off of a loss and had no damn belt worth mentioning, while Baldomir was the lineal champ of the division with the WBC and Ring titles.
He now sets his sights on Oscar, the biggest money fight at the time. After which he does the same for Hatton, another money generating fight; not going to knock him for those.
He's now back and is aiming for his number 1 spot again, inevitably fighting the fighters that will place him and keep him at that spot.
At 135 Spadafora called him out an undefeated title holder, Johnston called him a top LW, Lazcano another top LW at the time was willing to fight him, Dorin was willing to fight an undefeated title holder at LW. Yet Floyd fought instead fought Ndou and Sosa. Are you telling me Ndou and Sosa are tougher opponents.
Floyd was Harris #1 contender, Harris called him. Floyd fought Bruseles instead. Are you telling me that Brusels was a better opponent than Vivian Harris?
Mayweather would get no more credit for those wins then Victoriano Sosa/ Ndou.
it began in the beginning of Floyd's career. when he was fighting out of Grand rapids in the am's. this is nothing new, he has NEVER beat ANYBODY since he was in the am's..and its the same way with his pro career. I don't care how many fORMER champions he beat, I don't care how many times he has become world champion...HE IS A KNOWN DUCKER AND HAS NEVER FOUGHT ANY SEMI-GOOD FIGHTER!!! end of thread!! :boxing:
...how did I do??? :dunce:
ima fight junkie,so now i gotta probe the net and see if i can find any.any fights in paticular?
No doubt. Let me know what you think.
The Manfredy fight is good.
Also the two Castillo fights, if you are talking about Stevie.
Plus he fought Mosley(3X) Forrest(2x) and Winky(1) in the amatures. i think those are all on youtube.
Oh, also when he destoryed Shawnba Micthell(they were both young in the game though).
You say Bruseles was better than Harris? Wow ok.... I respect your opinion bro. I would disagree though
dont get me wrong theyre both bums, but if they fought i wouldnt bet the house on harris.
Yes that fight was far out of his prime. You see, most people have a hard time wrapping their minds around the fact Stevie was one of the best fighters in the sport in his prime, cause they only remember the recent fights-Lazcanzo-Harris-and the Cherry destruction on friday night fights. That is a old, battle worn, and way to slow Stevie. The Stevie that was calling for Floyd was not a heavy drinker, not getting paid for fights do to back child support, and not out of boxing for like three years. The man you saw, was nothing like he used to be.
Many that watched Stevie in his prime would easily agree. To much inactivity, and outside the ring problems, along with some good ring wars stripped him of his prime, and the Stevie you see now is just a shell. Period.

Your full of s*t you f`ing clown. At the time frame you talk about I read basically all the boxing magazines at that time and followed the sport even harder then i do now and Morales have never called out Floyd.Morales said he was interested in fighting Floyd in the future after he came up to 130.And he said Floyd would have to come down but he never called out Floyd.
well to each his own. I clearly remember Morales stating that he was willing to go up to 130 and fight Floyd. He was already at 126 so going up 4lbs wouldn't really be an issue. I never said Morales would destroy him etc etc...I just answered the TS question as to when Floyd first ducked an opponent.
I'm just curious as to why you guys ask question and get mad when you get answers you don't like....ohh wait thats right...you guys are dick riders hoping to get responses like "Floyd is God". " No one can beat Floyd" or "Floyd has never ducked anyone". Sorry I'm just the type to call things like I see it.
Im out....so to all of you d!ck riders, have a nice night and try not to suck Floyd off too hard.
ive only seen him fight lazcanzo i believe, and he got worked.but i'll assume thats outside his prime.but judgin by that fight,i saw nothing special,to small, and didnt seem great at anything in paticular.looked like a decent all around fighter.but paul just had some amazing hand speed that woulda troubled anybody

i'll say brusels is better than harris.harris claim to fame is bein tall.that dude was horrible

:pat:he didn't fight any of those guys BECAUSE IT WASN'T NECESSARY!!! what don't you understand about that??? A win over either of those guys would prove absolutely NOTHING!! smh, now we are trying to call these "ducks" you can be fuggin serious!!
Stevie held the belt he got from Castillo. He was supposed to fight Stevie for that title. He chose not to fight Stevie. The minute Castillo had the belt, that was his mission to have that belt.
Once again, you seem to have today confused with back then. Floyd had no shots to call back then...But he did anyway. With those two fighters in particular.
Those were my only two examples. Valid ones at that. Stevie was considered the "Man" at the time he was calling for FLoyd, whats not to prove?
Spadafora was undefeated, and had really been tested in his fights. Plus he damn near insults you every chance he gets..At one point calling Floyd a coward...What's not to prove? Or should I say gain?
You clearly never saw him in his prime then. Sorry I won't say that you haven't seen him in his prime(I don't know that).
Anyway, Lederman said that he had never seen anyone with the ring generalship of Stevie Johnston (including Floyd). Listen to Max talk about Johnston. In his prime (at the time he was calling for Floyds head), Stevie was a beast.

lmao how much did Erik weigh after he beat MAB the first time??? 120!!! This is when Erik "called" Mayweather out. goodness grief, so this is a guy Floyd is supposed to fight, him being at 130 trying to move up in weight and acquire belts??? and you can seriously fix your mouth and say Floyd ducked him??? goodness grief

lookin through these post and i see the names: Stevie Johnston, Paul Spadafora, Vivian Harris, Erik Morales.....WTF????!!!
SERIOUSLY what lengths will the haters not stop at to discredit the man. He's defeated every fighter he's needed to in every weight class except welterweight...and guess what that job is yet to be finished!!!!! goodness grief its sad how boxing fans can fix their minds to completely revise facts and truths simply to discredit another boxer....that only damages the sport.
Nothing that I have said is false(maybe the knock down twice in sparring thing, I know it was once for sure, but going off of memory right now). Do the research.

No one is discrediting Floyd.
The topic asked when did the ducking start.
I provided two situations that no one can say didn't happen. That is all.
LMAO at these revisionist!!!! now we are trying to say Floyd ducked Morales??? when Morales was fighting at bantamweight at that time!!!!! goodness grief, I ain't tryna be no Floyd apologist but lets get the facts straight please.
In 2001 Floyd was fighting Chavez and Hernandez at 130. In 2001 Erik was fighting Injin Chi at 126. So lets get the facts straight that Erik Morales was not a Bantamweight during this time.
you are obvious stupid if you think johnston and spadafora had a chance against floyd they have not accomplished half of what floyd has accomplished and thats the truth
Once agian you are speak in terms of what they are today. Back then, those two fighters would have gave Floyd hell. Hell, Spadafora knocked him down twice in sparring, and claimed it was easy work. Floyd never denied those statements (there is also a video on youtube of the session). Instead, Floyd said sparring isn't a real fight, but never gave Spadafora the chance to prove it in the ring.
Man this is my last reply in this thread but honestly, as you can see by the post after your last one, you are just wasting your time. I mean just like you, I have pointed out things I have seen and heard from following boxing over the years. I also remember Floyd not wanting to fight Johnston and the robberies against castillo. I mean all these incidents were as clear as day to any fan who followed the sport back then. Yet when you bring them up...then all of the sudden your a hater. I guess not dick riding Floyd 24/7 also makes you a hater.smh
Anyways if I was a Floyd hater I wouldn't give him props like I recently had in various threads. I never once attacked Floyd's talent in the ring, just pointing out my observations and while answering the TS question.
BTW It's not my job to school new fans on the history of the sport. By alot these replies, its clear most of you guys must have just recently started to follow the boxing closely and its comical reading some of the comments in this thread.
That right there is what it comes down to for some cats on this site. I respect all fighters! The only two fighters I hate, Mosley and Margarito (for cheating and trying to cheat).
How much does anyone here hear me talk about those fighters? Im just not a hateful person.
