On November 20, 2007, José Nuñez, manager of WBO super featherweight champion Joan Guzmán, accused Pacquiao's handler Bob Arum of evading a match between the two boxers to protect Pacquiao. Guzmán went as far as to directly call out Pacquiao at the postfight press conference of the Pacquiao–Barrera rematch in front of a stunned crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center's media room in Las Vegas. Manny Pacquiao
The victory keeps Guzman's unbeaten slate to 28-0, 17 KOs, and lines him up for a possible duel with superstar Manny Pacquiao sometime in the near future.
Guzman, who is trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr, has been calling out Pacquiao lately, even personally attending the post-fight press conference of the Pacquiao-Barrera rematch to ask Pacquiao for a fight in front of a stunned crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center's media room.
Soto's loss is expected to be a major blow to promoter Bob Arum, according to sources.
"This will surely be a big letdown to Bob. Soto is one of his prime candidates for a Pacquiao opponent. Now Guzman has just solidified his entry into the Pacquiao sweepstakes. Global Nation Inquirer

After the JMM fight of pacquiao.. it seems pacquiao cant make 130 anymore..
130 is hard for pacquiao in that day. pacquiao gone bigger. maybe pacquiao
will fight Guzman if Guzman is rated like Barrera and Morales. Guzman just got
beat Soto. where soto < barrera or morales. he got only Soto. LOL
Alex Arthur vs Guzman have been a good fight in SFW for him but he intended
not to do the fight when it is set and a campbell fight in LW for not taking the
weight. Look at his entire resume there is no one there will make or hype for a
fight with pacquiao.
I just got done watching the Campell-Funeka fight today, and one thing I've got to say is Guzman couldn't pursue the roll of a mobile boxer because of a taller opponent, and that threw him off his game. Soto I think had a reach a little longer than his, but not like Funeka's reach advantage. I could still see the Guzman that beat Soto giving Pacquiao fits.
One thing with Guzman though is he throws a wide right hand almost every time. A quick boxer like Pacquiao would get between that and clock him. I lost respect for Guzman after he fought Soto in the immediate aftermath and right now, I feel kind of guilty and bad for it. Because fighting the way he did that night is what worked for him. Against Funeka he had to go toe to toe because he couldn't use his legs to box to a points win. I respect the way he fought. That respect won't stick very long though if I don't hear something about him wanting to give Funeka a rematch even though I think Funeka deserves to move on to bigger and better things.
Interesting, I use this logic to explain to Left hook tua that Mayweather didnt duck Casamayor, Tua was telling me Mayweather could have fought Casamayor and my reply was you cant fight everybody and since he fought the top guys like Corrales and castillo at 135 then people like Casamayor or freitas should be brought up.
I said i could do the samething with Pac and say he should have fought Guzman but he kept telling me its not the samething..its not the samething. but i know its the samething but he just wouldnt admit to it.
What country are you from?
I'm sure I can make fun of what ever piece of shit country that produced your faggot ass.
Yeah, because they are all on 3 different rankings with him across 3 different divisions, right?
Dude stop whining, get over with it, it will be bad for you health.
Weight problems? For someone that works out as much as Pacquiao and rehydrated to 147 just like Guzman.
Yeah OK, so after the Barrera fight they already had the Marquez rematch lined up even though it was 5 months down the road, right? So if I get a good source saying you're wrong, would you admit it?
So you think Pacquiao and his team had the foresight to see Mayweather retiring instead of fighting the De La Hoya rematch and Hatton turning down the De La Hoya fight before Pacquiao?
Dude check this out.

fixed the highlights for you. where is your joan guzman ranked? below pac's leftovers?
The list I posted was at 122 in 2002, Pacquiao fought Larios at 130 in 2006 and made him come up 2 weight divisions. Sound familiar?
Yea does rankings are not right? Ledwaba was not in the top 10 at 122?
You telling me in 2006 JMM was not in the top 10?
Barrera and Morales were not in the top 10 in 2007 at 130?
Yea bro those are not right... There is no discrediting bro. At the time JMM fought these guys they were ranked higher than Guzman...

Pac was beating better, more proven fighters at all weights.
You just need to stop because it (ducking Joan) was never believable before tonight, and even more so, after tonight.
Did Pac not beat the guy who was considered the best at 122? At worse #2? Did Pac not beat the top 2 guys at 126? did Pac not beat the top 3 guys at 130?

It wasn't at 135, it was at 130, and 126, and 122. You know they were both top 5 in all 3 divisions at the same time at one time or another? You didn't.
I'm not trying to big up Floyd, just showing the hypocrisy to the Guzman haters.
