Remember when is fans used this excuse for years after that fight? Too funny when you go back and look at it now:
"Come on, do you really want to see a rematch? F U C K the first fight was awful and boring. The styles naturally will cancel each other ought and make each other look bad. It's just not pleasing. No one wants to see this. Joe won, but it was a tough fight. Credit to Hops but no to a rematch"
hahahahaa. Classic. Post your own favorite excuses!

the fukk you laughing about, who ever wrote that couldnt have said it any better
Roy and Bernard were turning down fights with Joe for what? Five, six years? He was only planning on the one Hopkins fight before retirement, he went ahead with the Jones fight as a victory lap.
The slapper beat your guy and Roy. Get over it.
Stop being delusional.

The funniest part is that you agree with what I'm saying. Funny or sad. Deep down you know I'm only posting facts.
Oh and I know this forum has been amazingly intellectual lately with the :
"**** Floyd"
"floyd is scurred of pac"
"what will you do if Floyd destroys pac"
"Floyd vs. Pac ppv number analysis"
"50-50 is a duck"
and other amazingly intellectual threads such as this.
 these are the threads that get the most intrest...
Why would Calzaghe want to face Hopkins again? After the shit he pulled late in the fight milking the low blow? After clinching every 20 seconds? **** that. It's not like there was demand for the rematch either because it was such a shitty fight.
The quote is designed to take the pressure off of Joe for avoiding a rematch since it was a close fight.
By saying its boring and no one wants to watch it, it's a ready made excuse for Joe and his fans not to have this fight and there not to be any reason for it.
Clearly there was more reason for this fight than say the Mario Veit rematch......agreed?
Funny, because you will notice that Robin Reid gave Calzaghe a very close fight, but Calz didn't want any of that either! I guess his fans can't use the "boring fight" excuse on that one!
Nobody wanted to see that crap again, the first one was bad enough as it is. Calzaghe was channeling the fighting spirit of Winston Churchill that day and wouldnt be denied , lol
Amazing...
Hopkins ducked the fight when they were both closer to their primes and the excuse from the Hopkins fans was "ummm.....Don King!".
Hopkins just didn't want have to sit through multiple injuries and pullouts.
Calzaghe lost the first fight. Hopkins was landing the harder more flush shots. Anyone with two eyes could see that. Too bad Hopkins gassed in the later rounds. Calzaghe was throwing alot of meaningless punches that just were for show. I gave the fight to Hopkins but I could see it going either way. Honestly I was one of those people who could careless for a rematch of these two fighters. But to the boxing fans of Hopkins I could see where they could make a case for it.
keep dreaming man. calzaghe landed very nearly twice the amount of punches that hopkins did at a higher percentage. hopkins couldnt stop holding.
