I give props to Pacquiao for a great fight but all this catch weight crap has to stop, if he as good as Roach says he is then he should have fought Cotto at 147 & let him rehidrate however he pleased, to me this tarnishes Pac's wins, always getting the advantage before the bell rings.
He was allowed, but only for a small nibble of lettuce while he was let out of his steel cage for his daily naked whipping by Freddie Roach.
Freddie is an evil bastard. :crying:
lmao:lol1:
i heard cotto wasnt allowed to eat breakfast that day either

Thats BS, Cotto looked smaller than he did against Clottey but not than much smaller and you can't contract a weight to rehydrate to after the weigh in its unheard of.
Yes you can, Mayweather tried to do it against Winky wright in 2005..
TO PR13: (I do hope you reply to this) I respect your observation, and yes cotto seemed slightly smaller than his previous fights. I would also like to present a point.
WHAT PAC FANS AND HATERS FAILED TO NOTICE IN THIS THREAD:
Haters are complaining why there was a catch weight or even the alleged
"rehydration weight limit thing"
You are saying that Cotto SHOULD get the advantage for the fight.
Weight classes are made so that boxers could have a fair fight and test of skills.
To have a showdown of who the better boxer is given that they have the same
muscle mass at the very least given that reach, and height can't be changed.
Cotto is merely taller than Pac. They are almost as tall as each other. Having said that,
the most ideal and unbiased scenario is to have both men fight at Welter Weight -
Cotto's natural weight and Pac's RECENT weight. So why is it that people are complaining
that Cotto should be bigger? The world knows that after weigh in, Cotto will definitely be
heavier than Pac. Everybody knows he was the supposed stronger one.
To sum it up. I think your point is LIKE saying that a fair fight with Pac is to be way heavier than him. Its like saying a fair fight with Pac is to have a 160 Cotto fight a 150 Pac. Oh its just fair that way right?
ITS LIKE SAYING:
a fair fight with Bruce Lee is to have 5 goons versus 1 Bruce Lee (that should be fair).
20 Second head start against Michael Phelps (that might not even be enough)
2 Nba guys against 1 Michael Jordan (That should be fair)
Babe Ruth should be given a shorter bat. (That should even things out)
and finally
Cotto at 160 vs. Pac at 150 on fight night (fair enough right?)
This point just means that Pac is so great you have to have that advantage...
you know.. just to be fair *wink
Imo the weight had nothing to do with the outcome of the fight. yeah he looked more thin than usuall but he was in great shape. he lost because he chose the wrong gameplan, trying to trade speed and combos with manny. manny hands are too fast and and he has great power to go with it. you need to take yovr time, counter and jab and then turn up the workrate later against pac like jmm did. if you trade punches early and carelessly with pac like cotto did, you will get caught and get hurt. and thats what happen imo, im confident with a jmm type gameplan and trainer cotto can beat pac but too bad it will never happen.
Hello? ... Anyone home? Please see below. It came from Cotto's own mouth.
"Its no concern of mine whether it is 145 pounds or not," Cotto said.
"That is the usual weight that we cut down to for the weigh in, and in the ring—on fight night—I will go up eight to 10 pounds, so actually during the fight I will weigh around 155," stated Cotto.

Jesus... I'm probably one of the biggest Cotto fans on here and he lost, plain and simple. Sure, he was slimmer than in his other fights, but he was also A LOT more ripped, he had less fat on him. He was also quite a bit faster, until the knockdown AND his punches were snapping Manny's head back more than I've seen in quite some time. Do I think the 2nd knockdown reminded him of the Marg fight and put Cotto into shell mode? Yes. Do I think the corner did a shitty job as well? Yes. Do I feel Cotto won the vast majority of rounds 3 and 4 as well? Yes.
But really, who gives a shit? It took me a few days to come to terms that Cotto lost, period. There are no excuses, because he WASN'T in the ring with Marg that night and if he felt like his punches weren't doing anything and backed up Cotto is a dumbass for backing up after that point. He'd never really hurt anyone, even prior to the Marg fight, early in his fights he beat them down over time. He should have attacked Manny on the ropes in stead of letting him slither away and then chase him with that sloppy combo that got him knocked down in the first place. And now he should realize that just having some guy make your ego feel better doesn't make you a better fighter and that while having some guy yell at you and badger you may hurt your pride it makes you a better fighter in that ring, PERIOD.
And as I stated, yes I'm sure the Marg fight effected Cotto its pretty obvious the fact is he still signed the contract to fight Manny and lost to the better man, just as it was no different than Ward putting a beat down on Ward. Did the headbutts, holding and ref help him... sure, but it didn't take away from the fact that Kessler still got beat by the better man that night, its no different than Cotto.
theres a lot of things that could have affected the outcome of this fight , But god forbid u even mention them in here , for a lot is not how much true there can be behind it as much as what kind of excuse ur making. I did notice him skinnier than usual. But oh well , IMO like I said in my thread he could have had the fight ,he had the tools , and for me he exposed manny. but he did all he wasnt sposed to. Is over , Hopefully he bounces back gets a real trainer, and gets a rematch , no catchweights , or nutin , and Im positive , that he can offer so much more to the outcome of this fight , He could break Manny down fighting smart and patiently. The possibiliies of him getting a rematch????? I have no idea, It all depends of his next few fights.
Are you kidding? :lol1: How the hell did he "expose" Manny? Boy, talk about delusional.
He was beaten to a pulp. If Cotto has any sense he stays the f*ck away from Pacquiao. He cannot beat him. Ever. If they fought again it would be worse because Manny knows he can walk through Cotto's punches. No chance of a rematch. Pacquiao fights 1 or maybe 2 more fights and then retires.

He needs to get back with his uncel whether or not he likes to admit it . They may have hated each other but they were a dynamic duo when it came to boxing.

I was watching a video of bryan adams yesterday and my wife said he sounded like eagles, do you agree?
So the reliable source is none other than another topic in this very forum?

Just wait another week and another moron is gonna make another topic saying that Cotto couldn't rehydrate and will link to this topic as a proof.
So moronic. :nono:
If someone told you you had to come into the ring dehydrated and ill, but would be unable to prove it either way, what would you do?
Oh yeah thats right i'd rehydrate anyway, so would you and so would Cotto.
Imagine how much it would hurt Pac's legacy if he refused to fight on the night because Cotto weighed to much? GTFO with this BS.
This would explain why Cotto looked significantly smaller in this fight than usual.
Disgraceful...
I really hope this isn't true, whether Cotto signed or not. That's terrible.
:pat:
Jesus christ.
