55% share for Pacquiao fair enough – Salud

A confidante of Manny Pacquiao said a 55-45 split in favor of the Filipino sensation is fair enough to make the much-fantasized bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. a reality.
International promoter Rex “Wakee” Salud, a familiar fixture in Team Pacquiao, told the Bulletin that both camps of Pacquiao and Mayweather have initially agreed that their latest pay-per-view (PPV) results will decide who gets the larger chunk of their potential earnings.
“Nag-usap na sila noon na yung mas malaking (Pay-Per-View) buys ang kukuha ng malaking share,” said Salud in a telephone call from his office in Cebu.
In Pacquiao’s latest fight with Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, American promoter Bob Arum revealed that the match made 1.25 million buys and $70 million in domestic revenues.
Mayweather, meanwhile, had a one million buys in his comeback fight against Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez last September in Las Vegas. The fight ended his 18-month hiatus.
Both Mayweather and Pacquiao ended up winning their respective fights with the Filipino scoring a 12th round stoppage against Cotto while the American scored a 12-round decision win over Marquez.
“Matigas din si Mayweather dahil gusto niya siya dapat ang malaking share. Si Manny naman hindi din papayag. Pero yung basehan na Pay-Per-View ng last fight nila, lamang na si Manny,” said Salud.
Well-known boxing personalities, however, are insistent that a 50-50 split would be fair enough for both celebrity fighters as there would definitely be so much money on the table to make so much fuss about small percentages.
“It could hit 3 million pay-per-view buys. And if two fighters can do it, it’s Mayweather and Pacquiao,” penned Oscar De La Hoya in his Ring Magazine online blog.
Salud however added that Pacquiao will most likely accept an August 2010 date as the Filipino pound-for-pound king is dead set in running for a congressional seat in next year’s elections in Sarangani.

fixed it for yah...:lol1:
oh really if pacs the peoples person and dont care for money why is he pricing himself out???
pac is ducking! he knows hes gonna get his ass kicked!
I actually talked about this before the fight also in that I wouldnt be shocked if both camps had agreed before the fight that whatever Pac-Cotto did would decide how they will split the percentage for Pac-Floyd. However, this guy is saying it like Pac-Cotto did more so Pac will get more money but I dont think Floyd's camp wouldve agreed to that. I think if there was a pre agreement then it would be more like if Pac-Cotto did 2mil buys then Pac would get 55%, if it did 1.5 then they would get 50% but if it did like a mil then Floyd would get 55%. That means that since its in the middle that Floyd will get like 52.5% and Pac 47.5% or something to that effect
