Rule Change in Boxing? (Clinching)

What are you guys talking about? There are rules for it. A ref can take a point away if he wants to

There's nothing wrong with clinching/leaning in. The problem is when you hold the other fighter with one arm to stop him punching and punch him with your other hand.

That's true. Cotto never clinched. The kind of clinch Ward and Kessler did were consented by both men. cotto did clinch, but that was because pac was fukking up his faces w/ punches...

Should a rule be added for the amount of clinches one can initiate during a boxing match per round? A clinch is basically like a timeout, the action stops so the guys can get a breather/reset. Other sports have a limit to the amount of timeouts a team gets, so should boxing. lt also gives an excuse for fighters to not learn how to fight on the inside. lt would also make fights more crowd pleasing. Hopefully to the effect of Corrales Castllo 1. Many judges differ on their ideas about how often a fighter can clinch. All Jay Nady does is break the fighters up, I'm pretty sure action loving Smoger would deduct points after a certain amount of warnings. Isn't it a bit crazy that if there are different judges for the exact same fight the outcome cold be different? That under judge 1 fighter A would win but under judge 2 fighter B would win. this isn't MMA and there shouldn't be so much clinching, but boxing orgs could enforce the rules and make refs break up clinches as soon as they happen.

Good point, I don't know about a certain rule to specify the limit of clinches but I think the refs should be more strict about it thought.
