After watching Roosters HL video of Tszyu, it got me thinking about this matchup again:
At Kostya's peak...when he still was fast, sharp, active, motivated, and moved his body/head of course...how would he have done against the version of Pac that fights between JrWW-WW?
I still say Tszyu has a solid shot because unlike Cotto, Tszyu still has a better chance to stick with his original game-plan than Cotto...and unlike Cotto, doesn't get stunned like him and doesn't throw those wide-hooks like him which leaves him wide open. Plus, as long as we are sticking with Tszyu at his best, he still makes the weight fine unless Roach wants to have him come in at like 136 for the weigh-in.
Tszyu throws right down the middle with his right-cross behind a jab and that short-lead-left-hook that we've seen time and time again stun opponents. Of course, that same punch went unnoticed for a bit because he was injured but even when he still came back, we saw its effect against Mitchell.
Pac can still win this of course, I can see that, but what Tszyu can do is much different than what Cotto was doing. I think you need to throw the straight-punches like the right-cross down the middle...and throw a jab and that short-left-hook which is sneaky and fast is also a solid weapon.
Cotto isn't Tyson or Patterson where those two could get away with throwing more hooks because they were incredibly fast and understood how to bob and weave, time, and counter better...and of course Tyson could take chances because he had a better chin than both. Yes, I know those two are different weight-classes but I'm talking about styles and Cotto's style is a poor-man's version compared to Patterson and Tyson.
KT kills Pac in 6, Pac would win the first two and take progressive right hands before seeing the stars in the 6th.
Remember, Judah is faster than Pac and was still caught by KT, that tells me that Pac would be getting caught even easier.
KT>PAC at 140, sorry its a style thing, not a P4P thing.
So you're telling to us that KT won the fight bcuz Zab was trash talking to him? Freddie likes to play mind game and Pac execute his opponents pretty well without much talking. Ask his previous opponents cuz trash talk dont mean sh!t in boxing, its only to hype the fight. KT only got one hand weapon and he's stationary to hit, good thing he hasnt face a puncher like Pac.
Pac smoke him inside 6 rounds.
I'm saying it may help Kostya Tszyu focus more...to prepare better.
I've always wondered with Tszyu that when he was Champion for a certain stretch of time, with good news always coming his way, if he starts to believe the hype and settles in...feels like the win is going to be there.
Trash talk him, like Judah and Mitchell did, and say he is past it and make him the underdog, like many in the media did...and for some reason he his intensity and focus is there even more so...and he wins.
Tszyu must have taken those two fights for example personal because he talked about it and didn't seem to like it one bit. That's what I'm saying.
Kostya wasn't a one-hand fighter although he did become more of a right-hand dominant fighter at a certain point...which isn't the Tszyu I'm talking about...nor was he as stationary at his peak as you may think...watch some videos. He was faster both in hand and foot...and with his ability to understand distance, he was able to quickly get out of range by only needing to use short-distance movements.
He also relied more on the right because I think it was actually his left-shoulder that was injured and once it was ripped, he was forced to get surgery. Plus, by a certain point, after many KO's with that right, many punchers start to rely on their power arm...it happens.
But his short-left-hook that he can hold out there to look like a jab then rolls it over to a hook...has stunning power. He did it with Mitchell {southpaw} as well.
Power: Judah has a better one shot power punch than Pac.
Pac's power comes more with speed, angles to not see the punch coming, and accumalation.
Pac's opponents don't talk so much about his power as it is the speed he fights at and how many he can throw without you seeing them.
Zab talked a bit of trash before he faced Tszyu and when continues friction is applied even against an old match, that match can light up a fire and end up burning you.
You never want Tszyu thinking he is the underdog...don't let that match light up because if it does...it will burn you.
I think Freddie's trash talking actually would have been a positive for Tszyu.

^yeah, I agree that MOST of those who say that Pacman would have easily beaten Kostya were either not into that much or haven't seen enough of him
I wouldn't say either one of them would beat each other easily...it would be a tough fight for both.
Kostya reminds me of Marquez in the sense that he has the skills to beat Pacquiao. The advantage he has over Marquez is that he won't get in a dog fight and has the straight right hand to pop Pacquiao and the left hook to match
Kostya doesn't just throw wide punches either and is very steady on his feet
Also, even though Kostya lost to Hatton, he was actually doing well in the mid-later rounds with counter punching until it probably got too rough for his legs at the time
If people think Pac would just walk through tsyzu then they must have started watching boxing in the last 4 years or so, A prime Tsyzu not the old inactive one that Hatton mauled and cling to death would time and land on pac who his too reckless when coming in sometimes.
Its a picked them fight because Tsyzu is a patient fighter who timed his opponents perfectly especially some a reckless opponent. With the amount of experience Tsyzu have in the amateurs he would be a tough fight for Pac.
Um, did you even get the joke about playing with matches? Please tell me you did.
Think so
Joke: Tszyu hit him so hard that Zab didn't know where he was when he got up and looked to the ref (before he fell back down)
Mine: I was adding to it....but not as a joke...Symbolic

it will be an all time dream fight for TS. wait for your main man PBF to fight Pac.
and you will be relieve. its a better fight than Kostya vs Pac.
anyway PBF have fought Kostya on his time. LOL
I got that joke. "Dont ever play with matches!"

A prime Kostya had a ****ing lazer for a right hand. Cotto would have had a chance if he had a great straight right like that. Pac is wide open for that punch. He did great against guys much faster then him because he was so accurate and hit so hard. He would have had a very good chance to put Manny out cold.
i think kostya's right hand can still win it for him against pacquiao at 140.
i'm not 100% sure with my prediction as i was before though.......
slowly but surely , pacquiao is starting to look better and better in all these fantasy matchups tbh.
Pac launches with a left leaves himself open. Bam right death punch k.t. Wins pac does the chicken dance
Don't you feel tired picking Pac's opponents?
and you're like 0-10 on Pacquiao? Jesus!
Is that the reason gayweather-fagg0t ducked Kostya?
Kostya's been saying for years that he wants to fight the fagg0t. Ur fagg0t-guy that u love.
Mr. fagg0t didnt blurt a word.
Of course stans like u love cowards.
Thats no surprise.
Floyd said he wanted to fight Tszyu on video and in interviews/paper.
The fight couldn't get made at the time because Tszyu was on Showtime and Floyd was on HBO...but Floyd had his intentions set on getting a fight with Tszyu. In order to make the fight more lucrative for Showtime and HBO to make a fight/PPV between them...they had to do something so Floyd took on Gatti in a PPV to boost his name and get the money up...and Tszyu went with Hatton for the payday and Hatton was a Showtime fighter.
Didn't come off because Tszyu lost to Hatton.
