What do make of it? At times he's able to slip and dodge punches. Other times he has a tight guard and picks off shots. And then other times he gets blasted and torched up the middle. Why is it so inconsistent? Do you think fatigue plays a role in it?
This is something he must correct if he wants to continue to fight at a high level.
Besides uppercuts, when u play offense u are more susceptible to getting hit, it just so happens that Pacquiao was fast enough to get between those punches and tag Cotto, other times Cotto was caught slipping, but when he focuses on defense he's pretty good.

you said it....
Yea, he's definitely not a guy with "no defense".
I think he just gets reckless at times. He's just so easy to lure into a brawl. He doesn't have defense for shots through the middle, and uppercuts, but sometimes he shows flashes of good D.
In the case with Pac though, Pac would just throw like 8 combination punches. Cotto would slip or dodge the first 2 or 3, but then 4 and 5 would land.
