I wish Cotto had the same mind set as Vasquez. Never gets off his game. Dosen't matter if you knock him down 10 times. He never loses his cool. Never becomes tensive. Always goes for the knockout.
Not a knock on Cotto. He's still a good fighter.
145 give Pacman an slight advantage...whether it would have made a difference at 147lb? Not enough to make Cotto win but he sure would have been more comfortable. Cotto's problem was more to do with him losing the game plan than weight.
I still think Manny wins. But is Cotto more competitive?
Maybe if the fight were at 147 and Cotto had a different corner Cotto might have been able to force a SD. I dunno if it would have been in his favor but I guess what I am speculating is that the fight would have been much more competitive.
Maybe its just me. But I noticed when Cotto got Pac on the ropes his punches seemed very weak.
Why?
he was afraid Manny was setting a trap - its obvious he hurt Manny in the fight, look at his face as well as the ruptured right ear from his left hooks. He didnt want to commit to anything while Manny was on the ropes and leave himself open.
I don't think it would make a difference.
There are things Cotto could have done to fight better...but the weight didn't have anything to do with it IMO.

If Pac-Cotto had been at 147 would the fight have been any different? | BoxingScene Community
