Im of the opinion Floyd hasn't done a thing to deserve the payday a Pacquiao fight will bring. He lets other fighters do the work by knocking off each other, than takes the winner. Not very noble in my opinion. That said, I still want to see the him and Pac. Its an event regarless of whether or not Floyd is truly deserving. Would have rather seem him fight Mosley first, that would have made this fight even bigger, but Floyd passed on it.
Poll is multiple choice.
it wasn't because of floyd it was because of oscar & hatton
I use to think like that, but Floyd has proven he can bring the money. His fight with Marquez had no business doing a million PPV's. Floyd made that happen though. I don't like him, but I will give credit when its due.
How does Hatton being better then Baldomir justify Pacquiao fighting Hatton when he had 0 Jr. Welterweight fights? Floyd at least had a welterweight fight before he fought Baldomir (well...it was shotbay...but still).
I never said it justified it. Every fighter should have to work their way to the top in my opinion. I never had a bad thing to say when Floyd made the fight with Oscar either.
That's besides the point. You weren't complaining about Pacquiao fighting Hatton with 0 Jr. Welterweight fights. That's a double standard.
I alw2ays said Pac should have stated at 135 and cleared out that division before moving up. But at least he went after the best in the division when he did move up. He almost always seems to do this while Floyd cherry pick and makes guys move up to him as of late. Am I lying about that?
It's been 2007 since he fought top fighters. Hatton and De La Hoya were good fighters that won him FOTY in 07. Although, there are other reasons on why he deserves the fight.
He'll get the fight because his skills are undeniable and he has a (now) proven knack for generating money. He certainly hasn't earned by fighting the best welterweights though, that is a fact.
Floyd deserves a fight with Pacquiao, but if he doesn't have the stones to fight Mosley like Pacquiao may possibly have right now gives him less leverage. That's what happens when you duck and dodge. Mosley wanted to go down to 140 to fight Pacquiao and Manny went with Cotto, but I'm not gonna pass judgement on that until Pacquiao makes his next move. At least Freddie Roach is putting Mosley's name in the discussion. That's good.
My man, Hatton is a far cry from Baldomir, no?

It is the fight everyone wants to see, including me. But he hasn't beaten a top welter since forever. Am I wrong?

what??? how is that analogy even fit... Point is floyd is the best thing out there for manny and manny is the best thing out there for floyd. Plus if anything with your analogy, if i could say which championship game id want to see happen right away neglecting that im a bulls fan, id say id want the championship game to be the lakers vs celtics this year...
Point is, both should have to EARN their way to the championship game. Pac has beaten the second best, if not the best welterweight. Floyd has beaten a fighter with 2 fights at 135 and none at 140 or 147. This fight will happen, and I want to see it. That doesn't make Floyd the most deserving though, does it?
]All roads lead to Floyd..........I can't wait to see Floyd put on a masterclass in boxing against Pac.
Says Floyd. What happens if Pac decides to exercise other options such as the shane-Berto winner? Floyd has nothing than. In actuality, all roads go thru Manny.
I am a fan of the sport and even had decent discussions with you, why is it so wrong to be a fan of Mayweather?
There is nothing wrong with being a fan of Floyd. Its turning a blind eye to all his BS.
The Boston Celtics and LA Lakers are the best teams in the NBA. Should they just forsake every other team and get to play in the championship?

Just because there are a bunch of idiots in this thread doesn't make Jab right. I like Jabb, but I disagree with him here
Its all good warp, we can't always agree.
wtf is this deserve thing boxing is a sport and in sports the best should compete with the best, the best fighters out there for manny are floyd and mosley. Mosley has a fight booked and floyd is undefeated with a HOF resume... end of story...

What did Pac do to earn a shot @ Cotto other than being signed to the same promoter? I been reading all ya bullshit in this thread bout Floyd not deserving a shot answer that one.
Don't get it wrong either I'm a fan of both but your using double standards
Difference is, as Pac moved up he's been willing to fight the top fighters at THEIR weight. No, he didn't initially deserve that shot anymore than Floyd does now, but he put it on the line against the best. Understand the difference.

He's been considered one of the top 3 fighters of this last decade, the former Welterweight champion, has beaten some top welterweight contenders, and it's the fight everyone wants to see.

Where were you protesting Pacquiao didn't deserve Hatton for having 0 fights at Jr. Weltweight?
My man, Hatton is a far cry from Baldomir, no?
He is the former undistuted champ? The last one and that line only got stopped because he retired for a short spell?
And why did he retire? Because he didn't think the money was good enough to fight the best contenders. The money is right now, the best have knocked off the best.....everything is safe. Gtfo of here with that nuthugger BS.
You talk in circles, Floyd beat Baldy when he was the top welter, Pac is the one who's never beaten THE top welter. Youre a hater, you admitted that last week remember.
Don't twist things my man. I never said I hated Floyd, only that I disliked his personality and choices. We can pull that post up if you like. Yes? No?
Now.......are you going to try and tell me the title makes the fighter? Are you going to try and tell me Baldomir was ever half the fighter Cotto is? I doubt it.
He just doesn't have the track record at 147. Welter has historically been the best weight class in boxing and the standards are extremely high.

The 147 pound list is the sickest top 25 in boxing no doubt, really great fighters at 147 can not even crack the top 25.
135 is pretty sick also though, but that is where Floyd's best work was done so he is much more likely to be on that list (if you are rolling 130 into 135 anyways).
It's not so much that he talks trash it's that he doesn't actually deliver on it. That's what separates Floyd from someone like Hopkins who talks sh1t like crazy but when he gets in the ring he actually does what he says he's going to do or dies trying. It's okay to talk smack if you back it up or at least make the effort to back it up (as sometimes one's opponent has some say in the matter). Talking smack about doing something in the ring then delibrately doing the exact opposite is what sticks in my craw.

I understand your point. To me it is just selling fights, no one has ever really sold a fight saying I am going to boxing the shit out of this guy for 12 rounds and not allow him to do anything. It is false advertising but sometimes he backs it up though, against Gatti he did, against Zab he did, against Hatton he did but against Oscar and Baldomir he certainly really did not back up what he was saying (he really did not run his mouth about JMM).
He will certainly win a fight in boring fashion if it comes down to it, he really does not care if he pleases the fan or not, as a gambler I respect his view because I want the guys I bet to to win by any means they can but I can understand why people wanting to see action would be miffed at such an attitude.
That is another reason I tend not to listen to him, what he says does not really match up with reality as I know it, whenever he jumps the shark I just chuckle and say whatever Floyd.
