If he was actually fighting back, I could see letting him finish. But the fact that Pacquiao had to practically pound his gloves to get Cotto to engage, is why Cotto lost his right to finish until the final bell. He was getting hit and battered even while he was trying to elude combat.
pacman was intent on finishing him off. he landed like 3 quick shots to start the round and bayless was following them around looking for the slightest hint of trouble. this fight definitely lasted longer than it should have. :killyou:
you're over the moon today aren't you iceta? :D
To the point of where I just want to bury Cotto and his fans in sand? Na, not really. I really feel like I got my money's worth on that PPV last night because Cotto actually did put up a good fight against Pac. This fight was way more competitive than Pac's fights against Diaz, Hatton, and De La Hoya. I wanted to see Pacquiao tested a little bit, and I criticized him some for his comp up until now.
If I take a beating for 10 rounds,I want to make the bell,it's not ok to me to give a man a ko in round 12 if he wants to make the bell!!That's why he was backing up,it's not like DLH or something,if he got beat for 10 rounds & still is on his feet,he should be given that curtisy!
I disagree. Cotto was in a worse situation earlier in the fight, it should've been stopped there. I reckon Cotto would've made it to the end of the fight.
I think Bayless should have just let Cotto finish the fight. The result would have been the same but Cotto is better than being stopped by the ref. Symbolically, they should have let him finish the fight.
No way. He was just running the last five rounds. That's no different than quitting to me. The only difference is Cotto wasted more of everybody's time by running. I'd have more respect for him if he gave up in round 9 or 10 than do that bullshit.
Nobody can ever call Mayweather or Spinks a runner because they at least throw punches when they fight in reverse. Cotto was flat out running and trying not to get KO'd. I'm glad they stopped it on him.
Stop it,there is honor in trying to make the final bell!!Pacman is the better fighter,Cotto was beat, the stoppage was premature!!Cotto was backing up because he was beaten, there are fighters who back up just to do it,no need to $hit on the man,he fought he lost!!
green K'd :fing02:.....some cats don't OVER-STAND that honor thing!!
Cotto wanted to stop after the 11th round, his corner talked him out of it.
I don't understand his corner at all, unless they all bet that Manny would win on Points.
Cotto tried to quit on his stool? I don't remember that. But I know his corner kept wanting to send him out for more punishment.
Cotto wanted to survive badly, so I don't blame his corner. As Merchant said, he runs that show. He might have held it against them. Bayless probably should have stopped it a couple of rounds earlier. It was clear from 8-11 Cotto was done trying to win the fight. He just wanted to survive.

NO! Pac caught him again with a HARD left...another HARD left on the chin or temple could have KO him and his health sacrificed. its a good call!

How much more time was there until the twelfth round ended? I don't remember. I'll have to look it up.
There was over two minutes left in the round. Cotto seemed genuinely relieved that the fight was finished.
