Why is Cotto not being called a Palooka, Patsy, Puto or a bum??

Because if it was Ricky Hatton who had been the one who was running from round 6 onwards he would have been called all of those things and more..... Look, I wouldnt share that view at all - the man was completley outgunned but didnt want to quit, fair enough I just though I would try to point out some of the double standards when it comes to fight fans(and I include myself on that in some situations). Before anybody says it, yes I know Ricky was stopped in round 2(so would Cotto if he had taken that shot) but Manny played with Cotto from the end of the first round onwards. Although he dealt with Hatton in style I think it is also significant that Manny clinched Hatton on the inside to stop his bodywork whereas he clowned and took liberties with Cotto by using that straight armed defence and letting Miguel wail away on him. Just my opinion.... Hatton just fought Pac and got destroyed every second. Cotto looked good in the early rounds and made a fight out of it.

why would you compare ricky hatton to cotto's running? is this thread about cotto or giving a fair shake for hatton? cause he honestly has no correlation to this other than them both fighting pacquaio... I'm just pointing out that Miguel has basically been given a pass for his running when Hatton wouldnt have been thats all.

You're wrong. Miguel was hit with a similar shot that would of floored Ricky and he took it. Also, the shot that knocked him down would of also kayoed Ricky too. Miguel is not being called a bum because he went toe to toe with Pac for 10 rounds and didn't quit, people respect that. Ricky on the other hand has far less skills of a Miguel Cotto and was destroyed in pretty much the first minute of the fight. If Rick had a better chin and had fought with Manny for a longer period than lets say 1 minute then he wouldn't be considered a straight up bum. Also Manny didn't play shit from the first round on. Miguel was winning many early rounds until he got caught at the end by knockdown. Without the knockdowns the fight could of easily been dead locked after 8 round, 4 to 4. Yeah man, Cotto was dominating in the rounds where he got knocked down. He shouldnt have chased Manny or he would have lasted twelve. Shit happens, Pacquiao is still the better man.

Cotto beat a number of top notch fighters... So has Hatton although I admit none of them where as good as Mosley.

Really his corner should have stopped it once Miguel made it clear he was just going to run. Cotto definitely didn't seem to have much a corner in this fight. The guy was simply in there with a much better fighter.
