Pacquiao was the one who created all the excitement in the fight it seemed. He was the aggressor from very early on and Cotto was on the back foot so much that Pacquiao was visibly frustrated at some points by the lack of action from his opponent and the constant chasing around the ring.
There were many who thought Haye's back-peddling boxing style was boring against the largest heavyweight in history, but do you think Cotto's similar back-peddling style was just as (or even more) boring, considering he was actually the larger man against Pacquiao, whereas Haye had a huge physical disadvantage against Valuev?
Difference is, Haye is on the way up.
I think Valuev's size meant Haye had to fight that way to win. And he didn't really have a choice after he injured the hand.
cotto was in survival mode and haye was giving up 8 inches
True, and Haye fighting on the back foot against the largest heavyweight champ in history is different to Cotto fighting on the back foot against a former flyweight.
The difference is PAC was the SMALLER man.. Not Cotto.
True, Cotto had the physical advantage over Pac, whereas Haye had a huge (98 Pounds, 11 inch height, 7 inch reach) physical disadvantage over Valuev..
Is anyone surprised, we have seen Cotto's running before against Mosley, Corley, Clottey, Margarito, and now Pac, this is what he does when he's tasting leather. A strange tactic for a fighter who pretends to be so tuff
