No way is Cotto shot. Some people really think Cotto is done. I don't see it.
Maybe if Mike Jennings had beat him down you could make that claim, but how the hell does a shot fighter beat a hard case like Clottey with only one eye? That's what makes me wonder.
People throw the term "shot" around way too easily. I don't even think Roy Jones is really shot, he's just older and his reflexes have diminished, which is normal. When you get past age 30-32 you'll probably find you don't have the same kind of spring in your step that you had a few years earlier.
My definition of a shot fighter is someone getting beat up by novice fighters (I won't use the term "bums", it's disrespectful). If you saw the Amir Khan-Graham Earl pre-fight interviews with Earl, you'll see a real shot fighter. Earl's speech was slurred, so much so that my girlfriend who watched the fight with me thought he was mentally disabled. The fight itself was finished in a matter of seconds. A fit and healthy Graham Earl wasn't a particularly special fighter, but he was pretty tough and no way would he normally get blown out like that.
What do you think... Miguel Cotto or Miguel Shotto?

There was nothing in Jones vs Calzaghe, no one was clamoring for that shit, more people were interested in seeing him fight Pavlik than Jones, irrespective of whether he would of beaten Pavlik. You are trying to create a train of thought that did not exist in the minds of Boxing fans at the time, he was roundly criticized by many Boxing fans for fighting Jones because he had just fought another 40 year old in his last fight.
The fight happened way too late, we all know it didn't really mean anything at that point in time, but I disagree that no one wanted to see it. Contrary, there was a fair amount of interest in it, much more than I expected. Quite a few people believed still Jones had what it takes to beat Calzaghe. I didn't.
Well anyway, what can I say. As for trying to create a train of thought, I'm just telling it like I see it. I guess you could be acccused of trying to create a train of thought too, since you always posted harsh comments about Calzaghe? That's fine with me, I don't mind it because it's just your opinion and you're welcome to it, but I suppose we'll have to disagree on this one. I think you've gotten me a bit wrong, though. No agenda here, I swear. If I can't convince you though... :dunno:

Anyway, from March:
I thought you and me were OK these days my man. Kinda disappointed, to be honest.

What makes me feel better is knowing that posters are not letting their favoritism for a particular fighter influence their opinion and pretending they are objective posters.
You bite every single time there is a Pac thread, well you have a little nibble anyway, before you were just a flat out fanboy but you clearly still have those instincts but try to temper that by acting objective, shit like this always exposes you though.
Dont lie to yourself, we both know that deep down its all about you not being able to handle the fact that if Manny wins some people wont want to give him full props because some believe Cotto is past his best, not me myself but others.
See your acting pissy now saying "I don't have time for this crap" because you know what im saying is true.
No offence son but you are a fanboy when all said and done.
Wow. Someone got out the wrong side of the bed.

Reed, I see your points, but let's just say he turned Jones down... you know that everyone and their mother would have said Joe is ducking Roy!
This fight had to be made. Much like Lewis-Tyson. The public have always wanted to see it, and though it was way later than it really should have been, it was still something we all wanted to see.
Myself, I always said Joe's win over Jones is kinda meaningless at this point, but I understand exactly why these guys fought. Great pay day, boxing fans wanted it, and it was just one of those fight that had to happen.
I thought you and me were OK these days my man. Kinda disappointed, to be honest.

I don't have time for this crap.
Think whatever you want if it makes you feel better. My problem actually is with Roach. I thought his comment about Cotto was out of line. Simple as.

Nothing snidey its just i know your agenda is to make Calzaghe's win over Jones out to be something that isn't and you are trying to do the same thing here before your boy Manny fights Cotto.
Of coarse you will say its not but you are not fooling anyone here, not me at least.

No need for this DK. That was a kinda snidey remark.
Graham Earl was an OK fighter, nothing special at all (I thought I'd made that clear in the first post?), but certainly better than to be blown out by Khan within 72 seconds under normal circumstances.
My points still stands: Cotto is not shot. IMO.
There. I would say he was rubbish but that would be a bit harsh. I was being nice.

Like Graham Earl was a ever a decent fighter.
Next you will be telling us Holyfield is not shot because he does not slur his words.

Cotto isnt shot. But he definitely isnt the same fighter he once was.
Shot is too strong of a word.. Damaged goods would be more appropriate
that's an insult to cotto. cotto is not damaged goods.
Don't forget he is fighting Manny. Fighters tend to start to get shot right before they fight him.
haha, you know there's at least some truth in that, the ringwalks of Oscar and Ricky told us everything we needed to know about those fights.
as for Cotto - is he shot ? Is he f*ck, but I'll be watching his ringwalk with interest!
A shot fighter don't carry a belt around he's waist and this record, won 34 (KO 27) + lost 1 (KO 1) + drawn 0 = 35 rounds boxed 226 KO% 77.14 and on top of that a shot fighter don't get a chance to fight the P4P #1 guy and make the kind of $$$$ Cotto is about to make he's FAAAAARRRRR from shot. Miguelito > Manuelito..

Cotto may or not be shot.....we'll find out more about that tomorrow.....but Manny is DEFINITELY down with the illuminati!!....he sold out so I hope Cotto knocks him the fukk out with the hand of god!!:boxing:
Do you study symbolism or something? I have done myself a little bit so I'm interested in what you have to say, Mr. Jordan Maxwell. :)

Hey Sam you are right on the point. Freedy took it this one to far. Cotto is not shot, people just like to talk BS. The reality is that I don't know how people can make up something like this when he has had only 2 fights after margo.
Jennings witch was a tune up,
Clotty that is a boxer that no one looks good against and over that Cotto fought with one eye 9 rounds. I would not say that his reflexes are gone just that the guy could not see Clotty's right punches.
Tomorrow I will be on Cotto's Camp but still I think it is a even fight and let the best man win.
W'sup man. Agree with all that you said. :fing02:

nobody plays mindgames because they are scared.
people play mindgames to get a psychological edge against their opponent. if team cotto is anything like his stans, then roach has won the psychological war.
whether or not this will translate to a victory in the ring is still to be determined.
cosign this.
