im one of the most level-headed boxing fans out there...i live in california, but i couldnt give two shits about any fighters race, nationality, creed, etc...
unfortunately, many boxing fans do...especially the british, IMO...and british fans always seem to have an agenda, IMO...
so, i figured i'd put it to a vote...which british boxers are overhyped, and which are worth talking about on a national stage...
personally, i think khan is least worth discussing...other than that, no british fighter excites me, with the other three i can think of as haye, hatton, and froch...
The only boxers that make the news media in the UK are domestic fighters.
As an example, nobody in the UK had heard of Valuev until Haye and his PR machine kicked in. As soon as you get Skybox Office you're gauranteed big coverage via the Murdoch press.
All British fighters are overhyped domestically, it's the nature of the beast. Khan and Haye are the most glaring recent examples.
People need to give Khan a break
And why compare the U.S.A to the U.K fighters? Look at the size comparism for god sake. Of course U.S.A are going to have more top 10 P4Ps. Idiots
None of our fighters are as overhyped as the Bitchkos anyway (greatest of all time, would beat prime Tyson or Lewis according to some eastern european clowns)
you are in the red for a reason TS
all nations have some over-hyped fighters,it has nothing too do with just british boxers
usa is even worse for it too be honest,so your biased argument really is falling on deaf ears
ah ok, but still i mean for a world title fight against a former undisputed middlweight champion in america it wasn't that much hype for it if it was only shown on 24 hour delay.
none of the national networks in the UK could afford it, Hennessey has/had a deal with ITV but that went when the recession struck the UK.
they set up a PPV internet link for £9 to watch it. There was no way I was paying for it knowing that a delay transmission was coming out the following day.
Hatton and Khan are defenitley overhyped, but they are not bums they are good fighters.
Froch? hell no, im not british but I know that he is not very famous at all in the UK, not as famous as the rest of them anyway. His fight with Taylor wasnt even on tv i think. So Froch is defenitley NOT overhyped but then again he is not that good either.
Haye? Nah i dont think so. Offcourse he was gonna be famous now that he has faught Valuev. I mean a world heavyweight champion from Britain so offcourse he is gonna get hyped. but he is not a hypejob. He is a very good fighter with speed and power and have the abilty to pull of the upset against the Klitschkos.
That ALL British fighters are hypejobs is just a myth created by biased americans who hates the UK.
it was shown on a 24 hour delay
I think its probably because the uk is quite a small place and they dont have that many world champions compared to say america,So when someone does come along that looks like they could win a world title then the whole country gets behind them. You can't really knock people for that infact i think it's a shame that americans dont get behind their fighters as much but the support they get is probably much more localised since it is such a big place and depends on what part of the country you hail from.
Floyd mayweather for example was blown away by the reception he got when he came to the uk recently and that was after he had defeated ricky hatton. He even talked about buying a house over here.
Having said that though i do feel some of the hype surrponding amir khan ect: has been a bit over the top and at times it has made me cringe but thats more down to the promoters and you cannot blame khan for that obviously he will try to make as much money as he can as who knows what might happen next.
I'm going to keep looking at the picture you have of that girl in the green bikini...what better way to spend the day!! Who is she by the way?
Audrina from the Hills :lol1:
My gf watches it, I noticed that Audrina was sexyyyyyyyy.
no offesnse dude, but most americans dont give a rats ass about what the brits like...its cool that you pander to them though...
sure, the brits like their boxing...unfortunately, the american media buys into the fan base, and the hype job starts from there...
even englands best p4p boxer -- khan -- cant wait to jump ship...weird...the brits must not be so cordial after all...
im sorry but since when does an american have the right to lecture to the brits, seen as tho the brits invented the fcukin game. yanks should stick to their fake rugby(NFL) or boringball.
So flailing around, getting manhandled by your opponent, intentionally falling on the canvas to avoid inside fighting, and excessive holding= smart boxing? ok gotcha thats what champions are made of.
we get it dude...youre a froch hand job artist...the rest of us actually watch fights before we make our decisions then...sorry...
I agree that Froch was AWFUL in that fight, but Dirrell DISGRACED himself with his antics.
sure, dirrell fought a shitty fight too...ill give you that...he just outboxed froch....simple as that...
Why are you so bitter #4#king, did some Brit knock you back for a date?
haha...nah man...
im bitter because i go to las vegas for every major fight, and i have encountered the ricky hatton blind obedience fans in vegas before...both times, hatton got drilled in the "actual" fight...
just made me think...what type of fans would overhype their fight SO much that theyd fly across the country, sing a song about him, cheer his name, etc etc, just to see them get their face pounded in for the sake of a nice payday...
He is better than given credit for on here......I thought he beat Dirrell by a point.
and that would make you incorrect...froch won 4 rounds max in that fight...not to mention the fact hat he was the one fighting dirty, and dirrell got a point deducted...
that fight was terrible for boxing...and terrible for froch's career outside of england, but no other boxing respect him anymore...
