How different is Manny Pacquiao to Mosley and Judah?

Pacquiao is closely related to Judah in a sense that he is a quick and explosive southpaw, but unlike Judah, he is a 12 round fighter. Mosley is a come forward brawler, I seriously doubt Pacquiao will be trying to fight Cotto the way Shane did.

woooowwww a worthwhile, intelligent, nuthugger-free debate on NSB...whatever next? heres my two cents - i do think that the fights cotto had with judah and SSM are relevant here, however there are some notable differences in etween the styles of judah, ssm and pacman. judah as someone said above somestimes throws single shots and lacks pac's mental tenacity and willpower. as for SSM i think he is at his best when he can back the other guy up, when he can't (and with cotto he couldn't) you'll find that he is there to be hit because he doesn't have pacs in and out style. i think one thing that we all pretty much agree on is that cotto has very good timing but as RL GMA said cottos overall skill level and boxing IQ is under rated. i think the key for cotto is going to be his timing and his body attack. i dont think he can pacmans pace but if he goes to the body early he will slow him down and then he will be able to go to the head. imo this fight reminds me alot of hopkins vs DLH, the smaller fighter is the better fighter p4p, he is the bigger draw, he is chasing multi wight division glory and he knows that he can't take on the bigger man without taking something away from him first. in both cases DLH and pacman have elected to drain the other guy to give themselves the advantage. imo this fight will play out alot like hopkins/DLH as well, the smaller, quicker man will have the better start but after the first few rnds expect to see the bigger man grow into the fight and take over. i think that cotto will finish pacman before the 10th.

I honestly would give Pacquiao a much better shot if Cotto was a one trick pony with a lot of power, but he's not. Cotto's one of those fighters who some people can't come to grips with accepting that he's actually very versatile and can adapt. That's HUGE in a fight at this level. Pacquiao's never been in there with a guy who's going to apply the right type of pressure while being patient and selecting the right shots. Cotto doesn't waste punches as where with Marquez there were points where both guys just swung away and whoever landed, landed. A lot of us have become used to seeing Pacquiao overwhelm fighters like Diaz, Oscar, and Hatton with his speed, but I truly, truly believe once the fight progresses Pac's going to revert back to brawling. Pacquiao is being called this Boxer / Puncher now, but if anything Cotto is the real Boxer / Puncher where Pacquiao is more of a sharp shooter who uses his legs really well. Also, ask yourselves this. I think we're all in agreement that both guys will get hit with shots. But what are the shots from a legit, hard hitting WW going to do to Pac's legs and overall stamina throughout the course of the fight? Though i think Cotto's skills win this fight, you cannot ignore the impact that Cotto's power overall may have on Pacquiao.

Many say to Cottos defense that he has fought fast, quick fighters in the likes of these two. But although these were two good opponents I see some liabilities, disadvantages in them that Manny doesn't have. So I like to know some of boxing fans thoughts in the many differences between these two fighters(Mosley,Judah) and Pac-Man. This will help some fans get a clearer view of what might take place come this Sat Nov. 14. Good question. Pac is faster than both, a tad. Also his mobility is worlds above both. Also his workrate is better.

What I can see transpiring on Nov 14, is Manny winning the first one or two rounds with his speed and making Cotto go on the defensive. But, once Cotto get his sense of timing on Pacman; we'll start to see Pacman neutralized. It's funny how we see it the opposite way. I reckon Cotto catches Manny and maybe wobbles him early on, then Manny adjusts to Cotto's power, turns up the heat and shreds Cotto's face up, eventually leading to a stoppage. Pacquiao is totally different to Mosley and Judah. Judah throws mainly single shots and then he has a massive brain fart after 4 rounds or so, then starts whacking you in the balls to try and gain an advantage. Good speed, but he doesn't make the best of it. Pacquiao, on the other hand, throws way more combos and gets stronger towards the end of the fight. You will never see him fade like Judah does or get on his bike like Cotto does. Mosley is good but inconsistent -- he should not have even let it get to the late rounds against Mayorga. On the other hand, he looked great against Marg recently. Manny has really quick feet and great movement around the ring. I see him engaging as he darts in and out. But as has been noted, over and over.; timing can neutralize speed. This is something Cotto has and is more than evident from his Judah and Mosley match ups. Now, Pacman obviously has the better feet of both Mosley And Judah, but he can be timed just as well. The biggest difference between Pacman and Judah, Mosley is Manny's ability to punch for awkward angles. This is where Cotto need to be the most careful. There is a huge difference between Pac and Judah and Mosley. To start with Pac al lot harder to hit, he doesn't run in and out, he sticks and moves. Cotto like DLH wont be able to sit on his shots and by the time he gets hit Pac will be out of range. If Cotto thinks this fight will be anything like his fight with Mosley or Judah, he's in for a rude awakening.

The thing Pacquiao has different from Mosley and Zab is his movement around the ring. But in order to hit Cotto you gotta engage. People have this idea that Pac can run in and out and not get hit. I think that's where people got it a bit twisted. Cotto's not going to be an open target for Pacquiao because Pac himself is gonna have to worry about the shots Cotto's going to land on him. Both Zab and Mosley were said to cause problems for Cotto, but he knows how to adapt. You make some good points, but even though Pacquiao can't dance around all the time, because in some point he has to hit Cotto. He does have quicker hands and feet to the point he might hit Cotto and retreat. I think Judah would've done better if he didn't plant his feet as much to hit Cotto. While Manny can hit Cotto while moving around. Perhaps he can't hit as hard this way, but its good enough for him to score some points.

Mosley is much more of a straight forward brawler and didn't care about taking shots to land his own, which is why he was outboxed by Cotto. Judah fails as fights go on, whereas Pac stays on you the whole time.
