WBC, WBA, WBO IBO and IBF are well regarded as the big five sanctioning bodies, but which is next in line in terms of reputation etc?
The WBU has had some decent champions in the past - including Ricky Hatton - but most of their belts seem to be vacant now.
Lennox Lewis, Doovan Ruddock and Tommy Morrison have all held the IBC belt, but there current list of champions isn't that impressive and their web-site's a bit rubbish.
Then there's the WBF - who once had Audley Harrison as their flagship Heavyweight Champion!!
So, which of the lesser "alphabet belts" are the more prestigious in your opinion?
The IBO has Wladimir and Pacman on its current roster of champions.
That doesn't mean anything when you consider stuff like this:
In July, their welterweight championship fight featured their 27th ranked welterweight against their 57th ranked junior welterweight.
The undercard of that bout had a bantamweight championship between guys ranked 26th and 45th.
Most of their legitimate, top-ranked champions don't hold onto the belt long. It's not held in the same regard as the "big four."
I thought the IBO had always been regarded as the fifth biggest, and they even get included on Wikipedia list of champions alongside the other four: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7b/BoxChamps.png
( If it's on Wikipedia it must be true ;-) )
