Since Haye pulled out of the Wladmir Klitschko fight a small contingent disregarded his claims of injury and just assumed he was simply scared of Wlad. When the Vitali fight was under negotiations and Haye then got the opportunity to fight Valuev instead for a fairer contract, it seemed to strengthen some of those beliefs that Haye was afraid of the Klitschko brothers. I think those who think he's afraid have forgetten the lengths Haye went to in order to secure the Wladimir Klitschko fight. Here's the first face to face confrontation which happened in 2008, initiated by Haye:
I was very impressed with Vitali the way he handle that.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
its was Wlad!!!!!!!!!!!!
the terms of the contract tied Haye down, we can't blame the Klits for looking after their interests, but yeah Haye got more money for the Valuev fight, and will now command more when he fights them.
