I get the feeling he wouldnt, if he wins easly people will say it was an unfair fight because of size etc... if he wins a difficult battle people will say he didnt deserve the win or that he was fighting a smaller guy and had troubles....
Well thats my opinion but, would you rate him as the new #1 p4p if he does win this thing ?? or would he have to fight floyd or somebody else ?
( i am not saying he will win its just a hypotetical situation, before i get attacked by pacs people hahaha )
No he wont be #1, but he will move up in rankings. Floyd would probably be #1.
And Floyd didnt get to #2 by beating a lightweight. He was #1 when he retired, and he came back and showed us that he can still fight but Pac accomplishements outshine Floyd atm.
Have to see what a win would look like, but he would certainly have one hell of a case. NO ONE has fought what he has the last few years and his lone loss is shrouded in controversy.
Amen to that.
Beating Pacquiao won't make him #1 because Pacquiao doesn't deserve to be #1 to begin with.
Pacquiao doesn't deserve to be #1 ???
Do you watch Boxing ?
Probably Floyd.
The thing is I have no arguement why so if any Floyd fan wanna come help me out here, please do. LOL!

See the problem I have with Floyd is not his ability to box...we all know he has boxing ability and god given talents...my problem with Floyd is his ambition for money and legacy does not correlate well or run parallel with his handpicked opponents, which are far from the best in the division and lately not even in the division he claims to be in. Floyd was amazing at 130 and 135 because he faced the top opponents and mind you I can name a few he didn't face but willing to give him a pass in those divisions because he did fight very good opponents but after 135lbs his willingness to face the top opposition declined dramatically. As of right now, his legacy is tarnished and rancid compared to other fighters in the same division (147). I can honestly, in a straight face, say that Floyd's resume at 140 and 147 compared to Cotto's is completely laughable. He has yet to face anyone of merit in those divisions. Floyd's opponents at those weights divisions is mediocrity at best. I cannot and will not applaud mediocrity and grant Floyd a pass because he has exceptional skills...he has to prove himself just like any other fighter. Therefore, no Floyd is not #1 and will not be #1 until he actually fights the top opposition at Welterweight.
So then who will be number 1 for you?
Probably Floyd.

Alot of people will say he is number one. I wouldn't be surprised if Ring Magazine places him as number 1 so they can say that his rematch with Pac will be about Pacquiao reclaiming his throne.
He'll be number 2 or 3 for me.

How the hell does he not get the top spot if he beats the man at the top??? Makes no damn sense to me that if you face all the top welters, which nobody in the division has yet to do and is the richest division in boxing, then beat the P4P #1 guy in the world...and you still do not get to be P4P #1 :nonono:
Sorry but to be the man you have to beat the man and if Cotto is successful he deserves the top spot without any question...period.

no he won't be p4p #1... but he'll be top 5 for sure.

no he shouldnt be number one but I have a feeling he will rise in the mythical p4p ranking as did floyd with his win over Marquez.
pac has only one advantage over cotto at welter and that is speed.
in every other department cotto is better than pac at welter, so he should not get to much credit. this coming win over pac is not better than his win over shane mosely,
after he beats pac it will boost his popularity and have a significant impact on his career but his win over clottey is more significant at welter.
pac is a great fighter and greater than cotto will ever be in historical sense but he has no business fighting cotto at welter.
