I just finished watching my first MMA fight and after watching the invincible Fedor, all I can say about the MMA is it is a freaking joke!!! I can't believe that people actually compare this crap to boxing as if the skill level is similar.
What I saw in watching the Fedor fight was a guy named Rogers who was commiting what would be considered numerous illegal moves in boxing: hitting his opponent behind the head, hitting with kidney punches and holding him against a cage while holding onto the cage and refusing to let go when the ref ordered him to. The referee reminded me of a pro wrestling referee. He did nothing and was totally ineffective. He kept ordering Rogers to stop holding onto the cage and Rogers kept ignoring him and he did nothing. This would not happen in boxing. They should have put them in a cage by themselves for all the good the ref did.
Rogers got knocked out with one punch because he demonstrated no head movement, no defense and no skill.
If Fedor E. is the best MMA has to offer, it is definitely a joke. The man is tough. I will give him that, but he has no skill beyond street fighting toughness. Any heavyweight boxer in the top 15 would destroy him in less than one round. In fact, I believe Ray Austin has fought in MMA fights and would probably love an opportunity to take on Fedor. If they fought, Austin would knock him out in less than a minute.
Anyone who compares this crap to boxing is either seriously disturbed or knows absolutely nothing about boxing.
Your comeback was that he was a college wrestler? Is that mma? You make no sense. I named a guy that had less then 2 years of all around mma training who is now a champ, and you are feeling dumb now I suppose.
I don't know what you're talking about. All I said was wrestling is a core discipline in MMA--you need it. Brock was a college wrestler for years so the transition was much easier. But like I said, he didn't using wrestling to win a championship he used boxing. I feel smart actually, thanks.
hahah yeah a wwe wrestler came to your lame sport and is now you heavyweight champion!!!!!!!! lol it must take skills
He was a NCAA national champion dumb ass!!!!
yeah, against Zulu & Sylvia he likes to feint with his right (or throw his right with no intention of landing it) to close the distance then land his left hook. Just his Sambo isn't needed cuz when he lands they're on queer street.
To be honest, Fedor has some of the shittiest boxing you'll ever see. The guy throws no kicks yet idiots want to put their hands down for some reason. Before Anderson Silva retires I really want him to fight Fedor. I know there will probably be a 10-20 lbs difference between the two but I would love to see it.
How would I do that? I'd have to google it... Nevermind.. Lesnar did. He trained for under two years, and now looks unstoppable.
Lol easy question.
Lesnar’s Credentials:
High School Record: 33-0
Collegiate Record: 106-5
1998 Junior College National Champion
Big Ten Title (1999-2000)
1999 NCAA Division I Runner-up
Ranked the #1 Heavyweight in the Big Ten (2000)
2000 NCAA Division I Champion
Mma ins't just one style. So effectively he has trained parts of mma a long time.
He hardly looks unstoppable he is 4-1 but yes he does look good.
You can't compare it boxing i wish people could understand this.

WTF? He was an all world wrestler and I mean real Greco roman wrestling. He was a 3 time NCAA National Champion which is a huge part of MMA. Seriously you are a know nothing and in all truth Lesner has accomplished very little because just like boxing the HW division in UFC is weak and inexperienced. Fedor actual fought in Pride which actually had a strong HW division.

He was a college wrestler but even then--all he did was use a lef-left-right combination on Randy Couture---boom, championship.

Fedor > all. The way he punches is just to close the distance so he can use his sambo/judo. (Which is what he was trying to do after he threw the punch; take him down.)The man is a machine

Just because you train with a boxing trainer, doesnt make you good at boxing..
See in boxing, you either got it or you dont.. You can just train for 2 years, and win on pure determination like mma.
Name one fighter that has trained for two years and won championships in MMA? Name fuking one know nothing!

Rogers last fight was a 22 second destruction of a fighter who has been trained by Freddie Roach for the past 4 years.
Just saying LOL!!
No, AA has lost all chin resistence. That's not freedie's fault.
EDIT: Anderson Silva? heh? Trained by Roach.

lol true true, from a technical standpoint though.
Arlovski has a garbage chin, moved straight back with his chin up and rogers missed his first 4 or 5 punches. It was Arlovski's defensive failures and glass jaw that allowed that to happen.
Point taken though
Obviously Rogers "boxing" is beyond garbage BUT in all fairness rogers didn't simply have his hands down, as you can see he was throwing a left hook & Fyodor beat him to the punch (and slipped under the oncoming left at the same time) Fyodor's reflexes are insane
No, brother, he had his hand DOWN. By the time Rogers was reacting he threw a LOW left hand ---regardless of whether it was a hook or jab. That's just shit boxing. If you want to counter you do so in guard stance not when you think your opponent is not going to punch. You always should have your hands up. Look at Machida vs Shogun. All Shogun had to do was keep his right hand up. Result? Blocked all of Machida's left hands.

I'm an MMA fan but Rogers was suppose to do Boxing 101--keeping your hands up. When he actually did--none of Fedor's flurries got threw.

That's just his Combat Sambo Credentials, he also has pretty impressive Judo credentials including 1997 Russian National champ & obviously not including his MMA accomplishments, yeah what a "street brawler"
He's been boxing since he was 12 yrs old. He can box more "orthodox style" but his striking is specifically designed for MMA/real fighting.
theory being
1) Boxing defense must be altered due to smaller gloves, kicks, knees, takedown attempts
2)he's not trying to "score" punches (amateur boxing) simply to land.
3) evey punch thrown, is thrown with the intention of KO'ing his opponent. Since all it takes is 1 clean shot to end the fight
4) if you were to study his defense you'd see that his head movement & footwork is very capable and his reflexes are second 2 none. Along with good counter punching.
Boxing skill level is higher and talent is deeper.
But stop comparing sports mma doesn't equal boxing.
The dynamics of the fight are completely different. Try even getting in the ring with a skilled muay thai fighter the whole fight and your style changes.
iam like most of ya'll boxing comes first then mma...but we gotta give it up to fedor! theres none other like him. hes truly a special fighter. we should enjoy his fights. we be talking about him for years.
