i don't know how to describe this right but here goes
how come a guy who uses the sweet science of boxing agaisnt a much bigger, tougher, stronger fighter get hate for using the art and the science of boxing to beat and overcome they disadvantages, and with a damaged hand.
i thought this was what the true meaning of boxing. this is not a street fighting, who is the hardest, this is about being the best boxer and with best skills and gameplan.
it is seems so many people just want a tear up and don't appreciate the soul of this sport anymore.
the science of boxing does not just belongs to the likes of srr or srl, it runs through all levels of boxing, from the amatuer to the journeymen, domestic fighters and the elite, if it didn't then all the boxers who ever fought apart from the greats would just be faking it, no need for a response, you obviously can't get my point
i think your point was haye is a more skilled boxer than valuev...
He went up against a man with crazy advantages in terms of boxing advantage, went up against Valuevs best weapons and negated them all.
Valuevs jab meant nothing in this fight.
Valuevs weight advantage meant nothing in this fight.
Valuevs height advantage meant nothing in this fight.
Valuevs ability to trace people and beat them down meant nothing in this fight.
Valuevs chin meant nothing in this fight.
David Haye took every single one of Valuevs biggest weapons and strengths and made them seem like childs play.
It's called defense and ring generalship.......you know....two of the things judges use to score fights?
You can say that Haye should have been more aggressive obviously, but to disregard everything else he did against a man who hasn't been defeated in 50 fights is bordering on retarded.
I agree totally. It's like stand in a doorway and try to swing at the top of it and see how it feels to have that as a target for a guys face. Given all of Valuev's advantages, Haye did really well and played it smart and safe.
i thought haye won the fight too...
saying that is completely different than saying he put on a display of the "sweet science"...

co sign... haye outboxed valuev and deserves to be champ.
i am not saying haye is the pinnacle of what i am getting it, this is more general thread than just the haye fight but tonight infulenced my thinking, but haye's was more sweeter and effective than valuev's.

I only criticize him for the fact he calls Wlad a boring fighter. By any mean necessary should've been his approach, and it was. It is also Wlads approach and Haye ran his mouth like he WASNT going to fight like that.
haha...
i love a good boxer as much as the next guy...if you think haye put on a display of the "sweet science," then welcome to the sport...
because you obviously havent been watching boxing for very long...

running around the ring isnt using the 'sweet science', thats using your physical advantages and quickness on your feet to exploit a slower fighter. being fast on your feet doesnt=the more skilled fighter.
but I will agree that most people on this site probably have no idea how hard it would be to have success against someone even as 'unskilled' as Valuev.
boxing is so much more dangerous and difficult than people sitting on their couch can imagine, especially when going against someone whos actually been doing it for a couple years.
