Oscar De La Hoya knows what it’s like being in a mega-fight like Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas, having been in more than anyone since the early 1990s. And he knows what Pacquiao is capable of first hand after being stopped by the Filipino icon last December. He has also closely followed the career of Puerto Rican star Miguel Cotto. Here is his take on the fight:
Now that the fight is getting closer, I’ve changed my mind about who I think will win. At first, I had Manny Pacquiao. I was a firm believer that Pacquiao’s speed was going to neutralize Miguel Cotto, especially after Cotto’s performance against Joshua Clottey in June.
Then, as the fight was getting closer and closer and I thought more about it, I’m now convinced Cotto will win. The reason is, first, nobody looks good against Clottey. He’s a difficult, strong, in-your-face type of fighter. And Cotto had that gash over his eye the whole fight. I thought he did an excellent job in light of that.
Cotto has a good chin and a big heart. He’s a natural welterweight who hits hard and is also smart and fast. Pacquiao doesn’t hit hard enough to knock anyone out in the welterweight division. I’m basing that on my fight against Pacquiao. I could’ve stood there and put my face in front of him and he couldn’t have hurt me.
I think Pacquiao will come out strong and try to surprise Cotto. If that doesn’t work, I believe (trainer) Freddie Roach will tell Pacquiao to wait for Cotto to come in and then counter, to stay on his toes. I believe that’s the reason (promoter) Bob Arum arranged to have a big ring, to give Pacquiao an advantage. Arum promotes both fighters but, obviously, it benefits him more if Pacquiao wins so they’re going to favor him.
I think Cotto is a smart fighter. I think he’ll get through those first few rounds and in a smart way he’ll walk down Pacquaio and possibly stop him in the later rounds.
I know that would surprise a lot of people. A lot of people are counting him out after his last performance. I think he’s the real deal, though. I’ve seen his skills and I’ve seen his power. He’s proved himself against tough, rugged guys. He’s proved himself against slick boxers.
Cotto is one of those fighters who can surprise anyone.

This has to be the first time DLH has picked a non-GBP fighter to win a big fight. GBP has a 5% stake in Pac, 0% in Cotto.
The first-ever legit DLH prediction.
Hoya is defiantly bitter.
But this is some funny sh!t....
"Pacquiao doesn’t hit hard enough to knock anyone out in the welterweight division. I’m basing that on my fight against Pacquiao. I could’ve stood there and put my face in front of him and he couldn’t have hurt me."
I thought that Pac took it easy on DLH out of respect. He could have dropped DLH easily if he wanted to but showed restraint several times when Hoya was on the ropes. DLH was lucky to not get embarrassed more than he did.
I would to if i was beating on a dehydrated shell of a man. Where is the joy in beating someone who can't fight back?
BTW, always take what De La Hoya says with a grain of salt...he sold his soul to the devil of promoting.
If Oscar actually stayed in for 12 rounds, Pac would have hurt him. I am sure of that.
I agree on what he says about Cotto. He is a very good fighter and has it in him to win, and quite convincingly. He is no joke
DLH really shouldnt say things like that aobut standing in front of Pac to hit him, and he still woulndt have Ko'ed him.
Because why the hell didnt DLH just fight to the end then and quit on his stool?
DLH could be right. The fight is going to play out in one of two ways..
Either Pac's speed is going to frustrate Cotto all night long and he loses a decision or get's stopped on cuts..
or
Cotto is patient, waits for Manny in the later rounds and shows he's the bigger stronger man.
What will happen, I don't know but I can't wait to see.
oye, if you know of any online betting sites dejame sabeL.

Lol at the idiot pactards mocking DLH for his pick. He was riding on the pachype but now has gravitated towards reality. One thing is for sure he knows a lot more about boxing than a bunch of hype struck pactards. I can't wait till Nov. 14 when most of these pactards will disappear.
A fair assessment of Cotto's skills and chances in the fight, but why the Manny diss. To be fair, it was Manny's first fight above 140 and his body is probably now more acclimated to that weight class. I still think that Cotto can hold off Manny and walk through Pac's punches for a TKO. Cotto's beard is pretty good.
Pacquiao is going to win because Oscar is a retard when it comes to picking fights. And Oscar quit on his stool, and still claims pacman wasn't hurting him when Pacquiao was about to knock Oscar the **** out.
