Fight Night Round 4 might not have knocked out the sales charts, but EA Sports has been actively supporting the game with DLC since its June release. Already we've seen two free patches, one of which reversed EA's much-maligned decision to focus only on stick controls by adding in the option for button controls. In late August, EA released a paid DLC pack adding boxers like Oscar De La Hoya and the Klitschko brothers to the game.

December will see even more DLC for the game, with a new pack that will add three new playable boxers--Bernard Hopkins, Sonny Liston, and Evander Holyfield--as well as two new game modes. From the EA Sports press release:
The first, Old School Rules brings a new take to the traditional boxing experience, while the second, Ring Rivalries, allows you to re-create some of the greatest match ups in boxing history.
It's not a lot of information to go on, but we hope to learn more details on the new modes in the coming weeks. This DLC pack will be available for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this December and will run 800 MS points or $9.99, respectively.
While the additional DLC is relevant for veteran Fight Night 4 fans, there's also news for Fight Night 4 fence-sitters: EA has also announced that it has dropped the price of the 360 and PS3 versions of the game to $40. Good news all around.
Over at EA Sports' official Fight Night Round 4 blog, producers for the game announced that, in addition to the paid-DLC described above, they will be releasing a free title update that will address gameplay issues, including the following:
Game Play Updates
- Adjusted the locomotion speed at close proximity so that your opponent can no longer trap you with glued feet
- Increased the stamina cost when continually punching
- Increased stamina loss when continually weaving
- Increased stamina loss for users that spam upper body movement
- Can no longer perform a perfect block when spamming the block
- Increased the stamina cost when continually running away from your opponent
- No illegal blows can be thrown by either user when one user is in a stun state
- Increased stamina cost of Haymakers
- Tuned punch accuracy when opponents are moving their head
- Reduced locomotion speed when throwing punch combos
Create Player Updates
- Allow users to duplicate and edit ratings of licensed boxers
Online World Championship Updates
- Improved cheat detection logic
General Updates
- Various Bug fixes

what they should have done is throw a few fighters in the DLC that would't cost that much to get
Instead of Evander, B-hop and liston only they should have also added
Juan Manuel Lopez
Marquez Bro's
Carl Froch
Arthur Abraham
David Haye
Edwin Valero
Riddick Bowe
Henry Armstrong
Willie Pep
Jack Dempsey
Izzy Vazquez
Marvin Sonsona
Zab Judah
Paul Williams
Felix Trinidad
you know those guys wont be expensive to get and they could atleast make the update worth the $10 bucks. BTW I really like how EA is going out of there way to listen to the fans. This is the most involved I have ever seen them with a particular fan base (boxing fans at easports forum).
I wish they would put Vernon Forrest on the game.. I mean shieeet they do have Sergio Mora on the game and Vernon defeated him and got his belt back... Unfortunately they stripped Vernon a month before he passed. I would also like to see Paul Williams and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the game as well.
The Updates are needed, Cause there's a lot of idiots on fight nights online. The glued feet is a pain in the ass especially if your trying to outbox your oponent. Also the stamina issue is a problem, I understand when you get hit to the body you slow down but c'mon what about the guy throwing 1000 punches shouldn't he slow down? I'm glad EA is paying attention.
I near enough quit playing it after just a few weeks. The game could have been a whole lot better in my opinion, there's virtually no style mechanics, all the boxers basically have the same style. It can be fun to play sometimes and the graphics are excellent but they need to make a realistic boxing game soon, focusing on actual styles and techniques.
They dropped the ball by not releasing this sooner. They should of had a pack every month.
With that said I'm pretty excited to finally fight with a real version of Bhop & Holyfield. Liston is pretty cool as well.
Plus the fixes for online play are perfect.
Yeah, I like the online fixes a lot but like I said before I would much much prefer if they would stack 1 weight class at a time with Fighter Packs instead of sprinkling them over many weight classes. Would make tournaments at boys cribs much more interesting.
Doesn't even really matter which weight class either.
Bantam:
LightWeight:
jrWW/WW:
SMW:
I can see at least 4 really good fighters missing in each weight class that would revitalize a friendly tournaments.
I believe the Buttons were automatically downloaded as a game patch/update when you start the game while connected to the internet. Otherwise when on Main Screen go the "Fight Night Store" then "Pack 1".
You can test if you have the Button configuration by go to Main Menu/My Corner/Settings/ (press L1 or R1 until you get to Wireless controller settings) then press left or right until you get to Setting 5 or Setting 6 which are both button configurations.
Configuration 5 is the equivalent of what Configuration 3 was in FN3. They also have instructions as to what the new buttons do on that page.
Also all training in career mode is reconfigured to mirror the configuration you have i.e. Heavy Bag Combos training will prompt user for button sequences instead of the TPC semi circles and so forth.
what he said!
the system lets you know about update and once u update you'll hav button config and the option to purchase klit sista mw toney and the old fat 45 year old george foreman for $4.99.....

It will be odd playing the game with those updates. I have grown pretty accustomed to dealing with all those flaws and using them to my advantage although certain people go really far overboard with the stuff so I guess I will like the cahnges.
It will take some time to adjust though, maybe I can actually reach the top of the middleweight rankings on x-box, I have never been able to get much above 50 (world championship).
It still pisses me off that I can't see people record before fighting I hate have to fight people who are no good and it is like impossible to raid my opponent level average.
The patches are free even the new button control configuration. Its just the boxers and some clothes that cost money. With that said I bought the last DLC but don't think this list is worth it.
I mean if they had a few WW's or multiple fighters from same weight class then possibly. How about a Showtime Sponsored SuperSix DLC pack? Or a WW DLC pack with Clottey, Berto and PBF.
super six r all in da game cept ward

Ring Rivalries sounds like fun but I already have a created Evander and B-Hop...
If this was months ago I might buy but I don't play the game as much anymore...
For the control button punches, is it free or you have to pay to download?
