It is not the fact that he has better skills than Cotto or can beat him, because I really think he can't, but The Phillipines look like a very poor place and even though it may not put bread and water on they're tables, the people there rely too much on him to accomplish too much and to give them that "hope" of having someone as great as him on top of the world, people literally worship him and though he's only a man, to them it appears he's something far beyond that.
I want my man Cotto to win, but if he doesn't people over here aren't going to lose sleep on it, if Pac losses to him and by KO, it may end up pretty bad over there....you guys know what I'm saying or am I alone in this?
ATG pinoys:
efren reyes
paeng nepomuceno
manny pacquiao
Let me repeat--Pacquiao is the ONLY signficant international celebrity Philippines has. Don't bring up a bunch of nobody's Al Haymon, you queer.
Being nationalistic & treating Pac as a god are completely different things
obviously Pac winning will boost Phils. morale esp. during these hard times we've experienced
but you won't see us kneeling over him as soon as he step out of the tarmac here
(maybe Cotto will :D)
I think people here really believes that PAC is treated like a god in the Philippines.
That if he loses, the Philippines will turn to hell.
It's quite amusing, really.
TS--you're a naive little girl. You know why Pacquiao is so loved in the Philippines? Because he's the ONLY SIGNIFICANT international celebrity. If he loses--they'll get over it. They did it once before with Morales.
you also got it wrong. should be -"You know why Pacquiao is so loved in the Philippines? Because he's the ONLY SIGNIFICANT international celebrity" IN BOXING NOW. Pac is significant bec he is reaching far more and may become top 10 ATG.
every country has slums or that "looks poor". there are many places in philippines too that may "looked rich" to you. what you see on tv/news is like that in PI, these are on people's minds especially if you have not travelled extensively. where in the world have you been, btw?
He's been flippin burgers, not that it is not a mighty accomplishment though. It's hard work but decent.
Am I lying? I said that not to demoralize any of you, but it does look like a poor place, just because there are parts that are doing fine doesn't mean the rest are chilling also. Those less fortunate are stuck with the crude reality that is waiting for a government check or trying to squeeze a penny specially when getting fired seems to be the latest trend from the government to the citizens over here.

you're alone on this. i'm pinoy and i know. boxing in philippines is a sports followed arduously, but people will not lose sleep if pac lose (pac lost to morales before). pinoys will laugh and go over it and just go on.
Don't be envious, not my fault you can't accomplish jack shit in life :fing26:
Nope i won't. Mind telling me your university or school were you graduated so i can watch out for it?
And they let you pass???? Jeez, the authorities should have closed down that school.

I got college degrees far beyond you could ever achieve pal, like it or not.
And they let you pass???? Jeez, the authorities should have closed down that school.
Dude, everytime you post, it exposes your ignorance and stupidity.
Of course you are lying and is barely educated, you should have stayed in school.
I got college degrees far beyond you could ever achieve pal, like it or not.
You're telling me you don't feel a swell of national pride when Manny beats these mexicans, americans, and english people down?
It doesn't make you proud to be a filipino?
I simply don't believe that the night Pac destroyed Hatton wasn't a cause for huge celebration in the PI... I bet mofos were dancing in the street.
ofcourse im proud but not to the extent that im going to worship him for that and making him my god!!
ofcourse your lying! your generalizing as Philippines.. not part of...
a pacman lose does not mean its done for the pinoys!
and again.. pacman is NO god here..
you yourself.. and people like you made pacman a god..
im not surprised! :lol1:
There are countries that have rich and poor areas, that's everywhere, I said it looked poor because it looked that way for most citizens there, just like there are poor people here on the island, but I guess you were too busy raging to read what I typed.

Nope, no dancing. Only during the fight everytime Hatton gets knocked down i saw dancing. After the fight, most have gone to the karaoke machine.
I celebrated only by buying my friends some beers for getting back the money i lost in Pac-ODLH.
That's cuz y'all don't think of him as some politician..you think of him as your fighter.
I'm sure some people voted against him because they didn't want to see him leave the world of boxing, or be too distracted to continue his true career.
well thats my point, pinoys can't even see him as a politician how much more
as "bein treated like a god"
of course we'd feel devastated if Pac loses, but thats about it
