"I think, in general, both guys looked very, very good," Arum said. "Cotto looked strong. He's Cotto. He works hard for two hours. He does all his sparring. He's in tremendous shape. I know Cotto works hard, but in contrast to the other guy , it looks like he's taking a vacation. Pacquiao goes for, like, four or five hours. It's amazing. They train differently. Pacquiao is so work-intensive. It's like nothing I've ever seen.
Cotto only train for 2 hours? What does he do for the rest of the day?
Pluck his eyebrows?
LOL! I think Arum is showing a little favoritism since Pac brings him more money.
Cotto has looked mighty slow from the vids we've seen thus far.
Hopefully it's just a ruse to get Manny and fans overconfident.
We'll find out next week.
Cotto always looks like that when training
Here is a video of him training for Judah fight.

I have always hated this about Cotto. He hardly ever looks like he is even trying to train hard. Just imagine if he was really into it though. One would think that after the Margarito beating, there would be more of a fire in Cotto's ass but no, he looks like a phuking turtle during training
Dude you exposing yourself as a Cotto hater.

alright 1 things comes to mind, he does not want to be over trained, thats an obvious one.

Duh! He is juicing you idiot.
Wherever I read that quote, the line about Cotto was also followed up with something along the lines of how it reminded Arum of the way Marvelous Marvin Hagler (Arum's favorite of all time or at least his favorite MW) used to train.
Now Jake dont be countering someones out of context quote with your own out of context quote. We want blood on here not logic and practicality.
There is a stark contrast in what footage is released by both camps but I have to say Cotto is definitely being very selective in the footage released where Pac (and Roach) as usual love them some camera time. It truly highlights there different styles.
Shoot..I train more than 2 hours....
Arum must not be counting roadwork, or conditioning for that matter. or... I mean it seems like he just went to see the sparring and only part of the workout. Boxers that treat this like their life pursuit and livelihood are not uknown to treat the training like a 9-5...2 hours seems anemic to me for someone on Cotto's level.
Though I do think that Manny will be in better shape for this fight. Dude is a beast, I done been saying.
"In Pacquiao's camp, there is no question who the boss is and that's Freddie," Arum said. "In Miguel's camp there's no question who the boss is either, and that's Miguel. They're different guys, different fighters, but whatever works, man.
The odd thing is, Cotto just re-signed with Top Rank, specifically for the purpose of finalizing this fight.
:lol1: Do you think Santiago even gameplans? When Freddie holds the mitts, it's for a purpose; when Santiago holds them, it seems as if it's just to hold the mitts.
Cotto wouldn't have got this fight if he didn't resign. I suspect Arum wanted the extension and Cotto didn't want to sign with just a promise. He'd only sign when/if Arum had the Pacquiao contract in hand.
The difference between a Cotto win and a Pac win for Arum is in the millions.
Training how one wants to fight is a decent plan, Cotto wants to fight at a controlled pace so training to fight at a controlled pace is reasonable on the surface but the problem lies in if he has to fight at a harder pace then the controlled pace he trained/wants to fight at.
Training should really prepare a fighter for the worst possible outcome in a fight not the scenario which a fighter wants. Manny's training style appears better suited to this line of thinking.
Here's the full context of the quote.

"Cotto does the workouts like a Marvin Hagler or Sugar Ray Leonard, two guys I promoted. They were all business. They'd come in, do their workout, spar hard and be done. When I was with Cotto, I saw him do 10 rounds one day and six rounds another day. He looked good. He'd do his two hours and be done. After two hours, Manny's just getting started. I'm glad Manny pays Freddie a lot of money, because he earns it."
Arum also noticed some other differences between the camps.
"In Pacquiao's camp, there is no question who the boss is and that's Freddie," Arum said. "In Miguel's camp there's no question who the boss is either, and that's Miguel. They're different guys, different fighters, but whatever works, man.
"Cotto, when you talk to him and he talks to the press about the fight, he's extremely confident and you know that he's not saying he's confident without really being confident. He is sincerely confident. Some guys say it, but they aren't. Some guys have doubts. I've been around so long that I can tell. Manny's confidence goes without saying."
I don't question that Arum is unapologetic in his fondness of all things Pacquiao, even if it comes at the expense of his other fighters. He certainly tipped his hand here in terms of expressing a rooting interest.
The odd thing is, Cotto just re-signed with Top Rank, specifically for the purpose of finalizing this fight.
come november 14th when he's laying down unconscious with his eyes shut and roachs head nervously tilting side to side asking manny to say something...
what purpose did it serve?
That's not gonna happen. Pacquiao cannot and will not fail.

yep.pretty much what i assumed.that's the problem with cotto.that's been good enough to be successful.that's not good enough if you want to be great.
at least this is just a job for him.

So it was also a compliment. I always thought Hagler was supposedly fierce in training.
Nobody knows how well these guys are doing in camp besides the people that are actually in the camp.
Bob didn't necessarily say Cotto's training bad, everyone's got different regiments. I mean, Ricardo Mayorga smokes a pack of cigarettes a day and fights all 12 rounds, but you'd never think he smoked if you watched him fight (at least until the interview starts lol).
People are crazy to think Cotto just trains for 2 hrs (running alone is about over an hour). There's more to training than hitting the bags, there's a lot you're not going to see. Maybe Bob was only there for 2 hrs and left because he needed to replace his colostomy bag.
