Which is "overtrain".
Think about it....DLH was already in the 145lbs-142lbs range with about 2 weeks to go. That means DLH would be re-hydrating to what after cutting weight?
Cotto has put in an extra 4 weeks of training for this fight correct? Anyone know what weight he is at now? For Cotto to keep his "size/ strength" advantage...he SHOULD be around the 152lbs-158lbs range. That way...when Cotto cuts the weight...he'll re-hydrate back up to around 160lbs. If Cotto comes into the ring come fight night at anything LESS than 158lbs......his "size/strength" advantage will have disappeared.
My loyalty is not to any one fighter in this match....but if Cotto doesn't keep his "advantages"....he'll be in for a long night. My prediction....Pacquiao via late round stoppage (10th round). Anyone want to take me for my points....msg. me :boxing:

The difference might not be the pounds he has to lose , but the extra training. but he also can make the mistake of coming in even smaller than 145.
That's the reason why I was asking about Cotto training an extra 3-4 weeks....
oscar had to cut a whole lot of weight, cotto only has to cut a pound or two. it shouldnt affect him

Cotto trained 3 months for Margarito too. Looked pretty sharp to me.
Yes he did....but after round 6...plaster or not...Cotto gassed....
Margarito = Chin Defense (chin eats the punches/ no movement)
Pac = Magician Defense (hits you, you try to counter, and he's behind you taggin you again)
If Cotto preps for Pac the same way he prepped for "Bricks Do Hit Back"....then he better go back to the drawing board...
i think he had to so he could make weight...im talking bout dlh
That's fine and all...but to weigh 142lbs 2 weeks BEFORE the fight?!?!?!?!?! As a veteran....DLH and his camp should've had him at 150lbs...cut the 3lbs then go re-hydrate back to above 150lbs....but to have Pac outweigh him on fight night (pac = 148lbs...DLH = 147lbs) COME ON!!!!!!!!!
Maybe Nacho was trying to implement some Marquez strategy on DLH...forgetting he was a JrMW....
The mistake he made is accepting the fight with Pacquiao. Manny's gonna whoop that ASS.
I'm confidant in a Pacquiao victory.....but c'mon....sarcasm or not....comments like that are just :wtf1:
LOL I love how people keep saying 1 extra pound isnt gonna hurt Cotto.. Well it certainly isnt gonna help him.. If it wasnt such a problem he wouldnt have start training 4 weeks ahead of time. He knew it would be a problem

You're wrong Pull. Hatton, DLH, David Diaz couldn't touch Pacquiao. Cotto's durability is good enough, he is gonna need every speed he can get. I'd say he should come into the ring weighing 153. Cotto looked slow nough against Clottey. You think that Cotto could catch up to him? I don't think so.
Cotto coming in at 153lbs on fight night = Dead Man Walking.....
cotto will never get close to pac's speed. that's not his advantage. his advantage is his size and strength.
that's like the vikings going to greenbay and not giving the ball to peterson.

His mistake was not fighting at a comfortable weight.
DLH couldnt make 147 anymore. He ended up losing muscle in trying to get down weight. It wasnt the training it was the dieuretics he used to drink to help keep off weight too. Prolonged use made him lighter than pacquiao in the ring
That's one thing I couldn't fathom regarding DLHs training camp.....the weight limit was 147lbs....why in the hell did he weigh in at 142lbs?
Don't forget the kangaroo meat...and Oscar's personal favorite...."Spinach Balls!"
I though you were gonna say wear fishnets!!!! lol
Although i want Pac to win, i dont think Miguel has overtrained, i think he's steppin it up cause this is going to be one his toughest fights ever...I think he's gonna be on point come fight night, as well as Manny and its going to be a very entertaining fight!!!!
Hahahahahahahahahaha!
I find it funny that whenever someone gets into training mode to fight against Pac (Diaz/DLH/Hatton) they were all "training like never before"...for who???? A former Flyweight?????

I wonder if instead of having more stamina he might get tired faster. After all he's been training for a longer period of time than he's use too. I think the extra training plus coming in leaner can be a problem, but only Cotto will know until fight time. same happen to De La Hoya he didn't really know until he stepped in the ring to perform and he just didn't have it. He fought way better against Mayweather, but against Pac he just looked weak.

I agree 100%, but I have confidence in Phil Landman. He's an excellent strength/conditioning coach and he and Cotto have a good relationship. Landman knows Cotto's problems and strengths and will work with that.
Also, Cotto was at 140 just a few years ago, he will not be dropping all the way down to that. Only to 145, which is just 1 pound under what he was for Clottey.
However, he has been training for a long time now and that could be detrimental, but I think the first few weeks were only very very light work.
