You're crazy Trinidad didn't have a great chin thats why they kept dropping him , but he always came back. De La Hoya biggest opponents were Mosley, Trinidad and Quartey. The rest were old or shot fighters. Cotto best Mosley Mosley beat DE La Hoya twice. Although De La Hoya was at his prime he never fought a Cotto that can match his technic.
Trinidad had a great chin. But he had sub-par defense for a world class fighter. That was why he got dropped. He was never really hurt badly in his career though.. Just caught with some good shots.
Bad chin would be something like what Chico had (RIP)
One good left hook by Oscar. For real- that's all it would take. Cotto ain't got Tito's chin.

This would have been an outstanding battle ! Cotto pressing and working over Oscar's body slowing him down but Oscar avoiding the damaging blows. Oscar wins a unanimous but controversial decision. Its funny how Oscar never got the credit he deserved for being a warrior. He fought the best and never backed down with the exception of the championship rounds against Tito. A tactical error which cost him more than the fight.
Dude the mosley oscar faced is not the semi shot version there is today. Its just that mosley was that good in his prime to be able to fight prime fighters today and win.
Was it necessarily the best Mosley we've ever seen? Maybe not, but Mosley still looked sharp and was very very game. It's still an excellent win that speaks very highly of Cotto.
Cotto would put up a good fight, but Oscar was one hell of a talent in his prime. He simply fought the best guys and came up short more times than he prob should've (i.e. Tito)
i dont think either fighter is getting KO'd, cotto is as strong as as they come for a 147er, he took some flush shots from SSM, clottey and margarito and has proved that he has a sound chin. DLH too has a solid set of whiskers and even MW legend hopkins couldn't KO him, cottos left hook to the body gives him a chance but i still think DLH would be able to ride it.
ultimately i think this could be a classic DLH's speed and skill set could win him the fight. cotto would time him and force DLH on the back foot but i think a prime DLH is too much for him.
DLH by narrow UD or a SD
Still Hopkins doesn't stop much fighters, but he did stopped De La Hoya.

I think Oscar gets the job done, but I think people aren't giving Cotto much credit for the sort of performance he put on against Mosley. The Cotto from that particular night would give a lot of great fighters fits.

Oscar rather easily too.
