Pernell Whitaker is way ahead of Floyd in terms of defense and accuracy.....if you think Floyd is better than Whitaker, it just means you are new to boxing.....
there has never been a fighter with the defense and accuracy of floyd mayweather, in any lifetime.... there has has never been a fighter who had won belts in as many weight classes as back, in any life time.... both.

You can find fighters right now that fight like floyd like steve forbes, malignaggi, calderon & berto somewhat. defensive fighters like floyd are always gonna be there throughout boxing & in the future.
Jesus. LOL.
Pac no doubt!
Once in a lifetime.....from 106 up to 147!
Once in a lifetime.....4 lineal titles!
Once in a lifetime.....the real 6 world titles in 6 weight divisions! maybe 7 later on!
Pac... 4 lineal titles. First ever.
Flyweight to 10 champ. First ever.
Gayweather.

obviously you don't watch fights lower than lightweight
Neither of the two are a "once in a lifetime" type of fighter. Maybe they will achieve that "all-time great" status in the future, but not yet. Definitely not yet.
You don't understand the whole thread, do you?
It's just between the 2 of them.. not whole boxing in general...

Flicka mah man...you where I think you've been this whole time???
nah, not yet. where i was, was a product of not payin your internet bill. hahaha. Next month, I will be where your expectin. hahaha
Pacquiao easily. It's not every day that you find a guy that can fight as ballsy as him and do what he did from flyweight to welter. Or whatever the fuck he move up from (i forgot).
I personally think it's Mayweather because he's more fundamentally sound, more defensive, and adapts better mid way through the fight when facing a tough opponent.
Pacquiao is also a good fighter but Mayweather would have never lost to Erik Morales at any weight whether Morales was prime or not.
Plus Mayweather has fought more different styles than Pacquiao and is still undefeated doing that, while Arum/Pacquiao's matchmakers only match Pacquiao up with fighters that "come to fight" and who are not known for their defense.
Of these 2, I consider Mayweather as the "once in a lifetime" fighter. Pacquiao is more exciting to watch in most fan's opinions, but he's at his best against fighter who 'come to fight' while Mayweather is at his best regardless of what style a fighter brings.
Name 1 fighter from the past 30 years that's like pacquiao. Pacquiao is one of a kind, you'll never see a fighter like him ever again. I'll name you 5 fighters in the last 30 years that are like mayweather.
Both fought an old Oscar. Even with Floyd giving all the cards to Oscar. Nobody really gave Oscar a chance. Oscar was a done with Floyd and Pac. The only people who gave Oscar a chance against Floyd were Floyd haters and Oscar fans. But, Oscar was done and Floyd was the favorite of the fight am I wrong? How many people were saying Oscar-Pac was mismatch in Oscar favor before the fight?
Unofficial weight means shit. Honestly we don't see the unofficial weight. You don't have to take your clothes off in the unofficial weight. You can wear shoes and have shit in your pocket and means nothing. That is why is called UNOFFICIAL. Yes Pac got knocked out early in his career that over damn near 10yrs ago. He lossed to Morales and had a draw with JMM fighter. Both fights with JMM were close and if you felt he lossed fine but JMM is a great fighter. So no shame. He fought JMM at JMM best weight. Me though IMO Pac won both fights by one point. But, anyways have you seen in your life time a fighter win a Flyweight lineal championship and win a JWW championship. In over a 100yrs of boxing no fighter has won the Flyweight championship and the Featherweight champions. Those are 2 of the original 8 weightclasses. And, nobody in over a 100yrs has done it.
Unofficial weight does mean shit to me because we all as boxing fans know what fighters do to make weight they dehydrate and then put that water weight back on to gain an advantage. And it is an illustration of the fact that WW was not a stretch for pac to make while clearly 147 was a stretch for Oscar. It's not pac's fault but the fact still remains. I'm one of the few or maybe the only one to feel this way but I did not see DLH as a completely shot fighter at 154 at that time and Floyd beat him definitively. The split decision was a joke in my opinion.
lol Pac IMO has been peaking in the last year. He was not a complete fighter with the first JMM fight and Morales fight. If you look at the JMM rematch you could see a vastly improvemnt from that fight and the first fight. And, I think he got even better after the JMM rematch. You have never seen a former Flyweight doing what this man has done. And, I am not sure that you would ever see it again. That is the definition of once in a lifetime. PS if you fight the best even in your prime you are going to lose. SRR, SRL, Duran, Armstrong all of them lossed in their primes.
lol Just so you know I wasn't trying to come at you with the can you get to your point statement just wanted to know what you were getting at. But anyway back to the discussion... I will say that Once in a Lifetime is up to interpretation one is once in a lifetime due to his being in many weightclasses albeit he started at 16 years old and one has once in a lifetime complete boxing skill. To understand the latter you have to realize how difficult and RARE it is to fight and win against different styles and levels of athleticism in worldclass opposition and still remain undefeated while also moving up five divisions. "You have never seen a former Flyweight doing what this man has done. And, I am not sure that you would ever see it again." I would have to agree with this statement but what takes the luster off that is that he hasn't been able dominate these guys besides hatton and barrera and these have all been fighters that are not special IMO and are very similar. With the vast improvements argument the JMM fight was last year I just don't think that there have been many improvements since then and I and many others felt he lost that fight even though he was bigger, faster and more athletic than the guy in front of him. Call me a skeptic but while he has improved somewhat through the last five to six years he hasn't improved as much has advertised to me. Manny shows an uncommon resilience in his career with fighting pro since 16 and being in the battles that he has been in but for once in a lifetime I want to see a sustained ability to dominate your opposition otherwise your not even once in this lifetime. but thats for me I can accept otherwise.
Lets not leave out some key facts: His first win against morales was his second straight loss to a guy we don't even hear about; Many feel he didn't even beat marquez in either fight; Mayweather beat DLH at 154 and Pac beat him at a weight of 147 and with obviously poor weight management I mean you saw the fights right. Do you feel they both fought the same DLH and that the circumstances were similar? And please save the Manny had to blow up to get to that weight argument because when you look at the unofficials of his fights you see that 147 was not the stretch that it was marketed to be at that time. Floyd gave all the cards(hit me if you need me to summarize these) to DLH and moved out of his comfortable weight to fight DLH

those 3 mexican fighters are all future hall of famers. thats 100% true. they were all once a world class fighters. FLoyd Mayweather only beat one person who is a future hall of famer and that guy was the old, slow, past his prime Oscar Dela Hoya. Manny was underdog against dela Hoya because his fight against Mayweather was a close fight. Manny happened to destroy and sent Dela Hoya to his retirement.

Not always. I would say that prime years should be around peak years if you handled your career right. PS. can you get to the point your going to make?
