I was arguing with a co-worker about Joe Calzaghe. I believe Joe Calzaghe proof he is the best super middleweight of his time. My friend believe that Calzaghe beat old boxers and he said that if PW moved to 168, he will beat Calzaghe. I doubt it. I wanna know U thoughts.
Calzaghe is too big, strong and active for Williams. But if we're talking pound for pound, let's wait and see what Williams does with the rest of his career. He's accomplished quite a bit already.

Yup, Zags possibly ko's Williams cause he would try to slug it out and Joe would pick him apart.

I pick williams because of youth and hunger. Calzaghe good but wha has he really beat. Old Jones and Hopkins. Eventhough in the first Quintana fight PW got out boxed. Joe could possibly replicate that are we could see the williams who sits down on his punches and if he gets Joe tostop throwing as much. He will win.
Hopkins of old is better than a young hopkins
Kessler the current 160 top dog
Lacy when he was unbeaten and was getting much respect. it was Joe that destroyed his career
byron mitchell(descent)
Chris Eubank in 97 who at the moment had onno lost to collins.
On top of that 10 years champion. Dont discredit Joe for sake's being.
On top of that u say if Pwill sits down on his punches, he has proven he doesn't know how to do that and is all talk. And how tha hell would he have been able to do so when joe would b going in circles to Pwills left...

I felt bad for Paul so I voted for him.
If a 147 pounder in Quintana(Not even top 5) can outbox him, Joe will beat him very soundly.
But if Paul forced Joe down to 160 things could get interesting.
Are we talking prime for prime? A slightly younger Joe (anywhere up to 2006/07) beats the piss out of Williams. No disrespect to Paul, cause I like him.
The current version of Joe, Williams wouldn't hurt him, so he loses. He's not winning a UD against Joe, he doesn't have the experience and ring smarts to beat him that way. It wouldn't be a one-sided beating, but there would be a clear winner. I doubt Paul would win more than 3 rounds.

Joe wouldnt even need to sit down on his punches, the slaps would be making p wills bobble head rock all over the place!
when did Joe ever sit down on his punches ??
no hate, but for pwill all it is, is output. he can throw punches like a machine, but there isn't much technique or dicipline, so he doesn't really have a plan B if A doesn't work. Joe can switch gears as many times as is needed. I love the Kessler-Calzaghe fight. i really think Joe showed amazing skills there. When just throwing punches didn't work he went to angles and when kessler kept fighting he just went almost perfect in technique where he made Kessler look silly. Pwill's output wouldn't be enough to do much. Plus Calzaghe is a lefty and look at how the overleft hand kept landing vs Quintana. Even in the second bout before the KO it landed 3-4 times. so Calzaghe could actually TKO the guy but I would favor an EASY UD. He would simply stay on his toes moving right to keep the flat footed Pwil of balance and unable to even have his output
good post,i think it would be an interesting fight though,as we have never really seen anyone try too beat calzaghe at his own game-in the end thats only going too lead 2 disaster though imo
shit man, my vote was for Calzaghe, that was a mistake. Read my post
ye its cool man ive made that mistake vefore

Calzaghe is too big for Paul Williams, Calzaghe comes down from 205 to make his fights, Paul Williams throws alot of punches by physical he's not strong and he's sort of clumsy. Calzaghe might actually stop williams in the later rounds
imagine the amount of punches thrown between them, damn.
calzaghe would win
Yea, I was going to say. You'd definitely get your money's worth in that fight.
