Yep, Chavez was well past it and there for the taking. Yet my point still stands, Oscar threw many fast punches for 8 rounds, and finished very strongly.
Watch the 12th round against Quartey, does that look like a tired fighter to u?
What fighters did Oscar have trouble with that u would compare to Pac?
Oba Carr is someone that gave DLH a lot of trouble, he was outboxing until getting stopped, but Carr was a very underrated fighter, very slick, nothing like Pacquiao really.
Against who ?
What fights of De La Joto have you been watching? Because if you've been paying any attention at all, De La Joto has shown that he can't deal with certain styles and that was when he was younger, faster like you said.
And like you said, he threw alot against Chavez, lmao. Yeah, against an aging Chavez who was there for the taking.

What about chasing sothpaw Camacho for 12 rounds, did he look gassed at the end? Looked to me like he was trying for a ko.

your question will be answered come nov. 14th.
No it wont. Cotto is no prime Oscar.
Different styles, different sizes, and a major difference in speed.
Good point, but, we already have a ton of evidence of that tall, fast, prime ww looking like sh*t against short, fast fighters, and we all know about his weakness against southpaws, we already know how he gasses by the mid-rounds. I mean, the blueprint is already there.
And like I said before, PAC has all the ingredients that has proven to be a nightmare style for that fast, prime WW.
Other match ups between other fighters dont count.
For example, we cant compare Floyd beating Corrales , or Leonard beating Hearns to Pac facing a prime Oscar.
Oscar and Pac have quite unique styles, strengths and weaknesses.
Even if Pac KO's Cotto is style it wont mean he could of dealt with a prime Oscar.
Given Oscars speed, power and style, i think he blasts Pac away every time he gets close. Oscar didnt totally get gassed by the mid rounds. Look at how many shots he threw against Chavez in their rematch. In his youth he had a lot of energy and i dont think Pac could deal with him.
Exactly, because De La Joto's balls shriveled up every time he faced stiff competition!
To the thread starter, P4P I agree, when did De La Joto ever looked good against quick, little guys, or against southpaws? The answer: None
PAC has all the ingredients to beat De La Joto = Short in height, southpaw stance, awkward style, elusiveness, high workrate
Well, when did Pac ever beat a tall, fast prime WW who was good enough to move up to MW?
None.
:smashfrea
like he murdered all the biggest fights he ever had? like trinidad, mosley and hopkins? then Mayweather and Manny.
They are all huge compared to Pac.
:smashfrea
i think the outcome wouldve been the same but pac by decision... oscar is only known for putting up good fights againts the best fighters of his time which most were debatable, but he wasnt superior to anyone at his prime era. he was top 5 tho imo
What weight class are we talking about as DLH's prime, 135? Because he either lost or had controversial wins at 147 on up. Pernell Whitaker beat him, but DLH was given the decision. Quartey in a lot of people's eyes won by a point but DLH was given the decision. Mosely beat DLH twice. Trinidad beat DLH. Sturm beat DLH but they gave DLH the decision. Hopkins beat DLH. Mayweather beat DLH. Pacman beat DLH. But dlh did beat the likes of a way past his prime Julio Ceaser Chavez, Oba Carr, Vargas, Moyaorga, and Steve Forbes with no controversy.
yep. pac beats prime DLH.
I don't think so...Prime DLH could almost match Pac's handspeed and workrate. And the physical differences between the two would've been too much for Pac
slightly better competition?......pac has 4 lineal weight div champ out those six.....what about oscar?.....lol
Not trying to diss Manny, just not convinced on what he's done past 130lb.
joe beats a prime bhop too.....:boxing:
According to you Pacman @ 147 beats the Oscar of the 90's?
I don't feel as if Joe could beat a 90's/early 00's Hopkins either.
I guess we'll never know.
oscar was that good? really? like one of the best all time? the best in the 90's decade? the best in 2000's?
In the 90's yes in the top 3 welters. It was after 2000 that he went slowly in decline. The guy won titles in 6 different weight division like Pacquiao, but arguably slightly better competition too. He isn't an olympic Hall of Famer and gold medalist and future boxing HoFer too for no reason.
why? because he was that good in his prime in 147 lbs? better that Cotto in a welterweight? better than Mosley? was he that good like one of the best that Manny would never get in the right with DLH?
Do you doubt that? Pacman isn't stupid you know? He isn't going into the ring against someone he knows can beat him at a higher weight. Even with Cotto, this fight is happening after Pacquiao attended the Cotto vs Clottey fight and thought he could defeat Miguel based on his performance. He told Arum "he has a weakness, I can exploit it." and they arranged the fight. There was a whole interview about it from back in June when the fight took place.
You can bet your ass that, had Cotto completely decimated Clottey in a big way, there's no way in hell Pacquiao would be getting in the ring with him on Nov 14th, which I think was a big mistake by Manny to underestimate him.
