Just saying... respect for Jermain Taylor.
Taylor is a thowback to old school fighters that were humble amd made it very difficult for you not to root for.
Come on now, people are getting carried away. Taylor was never humble, he was out right arrogant up untill his Pavlik loss & even after that he still wasn't very gracious in defeat. Go watch Pavlik-Taylor I countdown and see how "humble" he is.
That's a big reason why i never liked him
I have followed him early on as well. One of my favorite fighters. These days I realize how much he has actually done. I always wonder what would have happened if he would have got the Calzaghe fight before he fought Pavlik. Not to say he would win I just thought the match up would be interesting. We love fighters for talents as well flaws. Taylor is a thowback to old school fighters that were humble amd made it very difficult for you not to root for. Watching him lose or take punishment is like watching it happen to a friend. Its hard to watch and your Heart goes out to him. For his health I would not mind seeing him walk away, however if there could be any fighter to have a "Cinderella man" type comeback I would love it to be Taylor.
Good post and I agree.
I love this game, and if you really love the game you can't help but feel some love for some fighters... I've been a fan of taylor watching him come up much before the Hopkins fights, and I always felt he was genuine. That was the biggest thing to me, he always recognized the best fighters, and always wanted to fight them to prove himself. Forget about his abilities, it's his mindset that I always applauded.

Cheers dude. The fight is actually on my birthday. Hoping for a real whooping.
Roy fighting a HITTABLE opponent in front of an Aussie crowd of that size?
Roy is going to be ON TOP of his shit.
Awesome man Ive been to 3 RJ fights... I hope RJ-Bhop is in MSG so I can goto a 4th... have a blast, it's always a good time!

Thing is they were not landing the same.
if you believe compubox(which i dont, its a total scam..... but i know some of you people do), taylor outlanded hopkins in 7 rounds of the first fight(even though in the whole fight hopkins landed more, because he pretty much whooped taylor in some rounds), 8 of the second fight(which was actually debatable imo)......................................and if you actually watch the fight, he did outland him(regardless of quality of shots...and people give waaay too much credit for pretty looking shots anyway...)......
all i know is jermain taylor is the ****ing man.....and all this retirement talk......i think people should wait......maybe kessler softens up ward for taylor........and ward cant punch.........one last check for jt..... :D
I don't think he should retire either. He is guaranteed 50-50 against Abe ward and Kessler, and the Kessler fight will bring hima few million. He should fight, but not try to really fight, just avoid gettign stopped.
I actually kinda like my theory on it. BHop might have ruined him. Gotta be hard to go from fighting a guy who was throwing between 5 and 10 punches a round to guys like Pavlik, Froch and AA.
Btw got my RJ tickets and booked my flight and accommodation. Pretty pumped for it.

When they both land about the same and one fighter is throwing more I tend to give the round to the fighter trying to make the fight. Still it was Hop's own fault when he could have won if he was more active early. I could see B-hop possibly winning the 2nd fight though.....it was debatable.

That hardly proves you aren't drawing conclusions Soy :lol1:
Bernard didn't "ruin" Taylor... no.

Honestly what you are saying is whack homie. Taylor threw a bit more than Hopkins in the first half, not much more, and they were winging haymakers that all missed, and he got out connected too. I think Hopkins won. The thing about Hopkins is he NEVER catches a break from the judges. Every close fight he is in that people think can go either way is always given to the other guy.

I had it 8-4 for Direll, anyone who gave Froch more than 4 rounds is A) stupid, or B) a Froch fan who is blind. I said Direll would outbox him and lose a SD.
:lol1: :lol1: Nice call. Unbelievable. After watching Jermain I needed a victory bad, still didn't get it... wow.
Then Pavlik didn't want to face good opposition. Faced Rubio and wanted Mora next, no part of AA.

How did Dirrel lose? Is what I'd like to know. My memory isn't intact right now I don't remember what you said.
