HBO always shows Klitchkos fights live while in Europe or in another country..
Watching a tape delay isnt as exciting.
Then throw in you have to stay off the internet and not watch any sports channels to keep from spoilers..
This is supposed to be groundbreaking with the tournament and all, yet have a dumb tape delay? How stupid.. SHowtime dropped the ball on this one
What time does the fight start in USA time?
Will links to the fight be posted?
Well its at 8pm Est so you dont have to wait longer than usual for a fight that is shown on Delay.
Really when Showtime does thsi in the past dont they show the replay at like 10 est?
Why doesn't Showtime show both fights LIVE in the afternoon, US time? Most people I know don't mind watching sports on Saturday afternoon. It's the perfect time for me, since I usually go out on Saturday nights.
It isn't fair to the UK boxing fans when they have to stay up all night to cater to the whims of American TV. It's good that Sauerland didn't cave in to that request.
That's what we are discussing; I'm not sure why they don't just show it live.
I also have a better idea of trying to put more fights on Saturday afternoon so a younger audience can see the fights who may have bed-time curfews set by their parents. Plus, more people can watch the fight live in Europe/World at an earlier time. Say the fight is in the States and you put it on at 5 PM....that's 11PM German time (I think).
It would also be good to get fighters to fight around the World more and even fight more fights (even if they are just fill-in fights). But, you can't force anyone to do something they don't want to do and fighters tend to go where the Money is. The US has been big with ratings and money since the beg. of the 20th century.
Now, how does that work for ratings and financial means...not sure.
The main point with American TV and why they cater to them though is the MONEY.
At least we get to watch the fight, although I would perfer to watch it live. It could be worst we could only have the option to watch MMA.
Haha , lol. Well said. I fukken hate MMGAY. Thank god for the SUppeeeeerrrrrrrrr 6!!!! FTW
HBO showed Wlad's fight around 5-6 PM in the States, live, and then showed a replay later on around 10-11 PM. HBO, like Showtime, have several channels so nobody can complain about not being able to watch a movie at that time (for those that don't want to watch boxing).
I don't see why a "live feed" would cost more than a replay but maybe it does. I still think if you are a boxing fan you are going to pass up Football for boxing. And even if you are betting on the game, that's why you have more than one TV or just a TV that has split-screen (or more stations at once going on).
Yeah I agree, they could have dedicated one channel to the live showtimes and another to the replay or just replay them on the same channel later. I'd pass up football to watch the fights live as well but I was just trying to think why they would not pursue that route. Maybe HBO feels that a HW bout is less of a "mainstream" event than Showtime feels the tourney would be. Just guessing but I kind of feel that HBO puts on Klitschko fights as a side note (maybe they know it is most likely going to be a one-sided beatdown)
While Showtime feels that this is a heavily advertised event packed with pretty big names that could provide competitive fights.
I'd watch them regardless of the time they are shown but I'm sure there is some financial/marketing angle they are trying to work.
:bottle::bottle::bottle: damn people are sensitive..stop crying...
:lol1: nobody is crying. We're discussing the intelligence factor of Showtime for not putting the fight on live when you would think they would be able to do so.
You see, a "LIVE" fight will have me home at that time to watch the fight while a replay of the fight I can just catch whenever during the week. Of course, that is not factoring in if I have work that day or have something else to do with friends/family. But main point is "Live" vs. "Replay" = one more favorable than the other.
Yea don't watch ESPN(although it' be great if they didn't report anything until after the replay)
From Dan Rafael's chat yesterday:
Horn (Vegas)
Taken that Abraham-Taylor will be on tape delay, will EPSN display the results on the Bottomline right away? If so, to ask a red blooded American fan not to watch ESPN on a Saturday to prevent the spoiler is highly laughable.
Dan Rafael (11:58 AM)
I have no idea but I would imagine so. ESPN is in the business of delivering NEWS, not waiting for Showtime to televise something. Please.
Fortunately for me I will be watching the Florida/Arkansas game on CBS, which will end about 6pm CDT, giving me just enough time to grill up some steaks before Taylor/Abraham airs at 7pm CDT. :fing02:
Well, if you think about it Showtime has to compete with college football around the time that the fights come on. If they showed the fights live, there is a chance that they could wind up losing some of their viewers and thus, wasting the money they invested in the tourney. Had both the fights taken place in the US, it would have been no problem but this is not the case.
Having the fights take place in the fighters' hometowns will undoubtedly increase the number of TV buys (as I understand it, the fights are offered as PPV in some countries) as well as the overall gate buys.
There are very few times when a foreign fighter has the international TV exposure that allows them to be showcased in the States without them having to come to America to fight. I can wait for the fights tonight but I can understand if others don't wish to do so. I'll bide my time and watch some college football.

And I can stay off the internet for hours at a time...I know this sounds crazy....but I tried stuff like hanging out with friends..eating food...walking around...and I found I didn't need the internet...it was dumbfounding.
I agree; it should be live. If you are a boxing fan and want to watch the fight, you will be home to watch the fight (live) even during the day. Why not? After all, many stay home to watch Football during the day.
They should have it live. A Fan wants to see it live because they want to witness history in the making before their eyes. They want to cheer their fighter as he is fighting (live).
How many cheer fighters when the fight already happened?
If I want to watch a fight that already happened, I can just was ESPN classics or go to youtube. It doesn't have the same effect.
How can anyone complain about THIS tourney and say Showtime dropped the ball? Nothing will be perfect, it close to it.
The Taylor/Abraham fight starts at 5 pm EST here in the States so just stay of the internet and avoid watching ESPN sports for 3 hours to avoid spoilers.
I never in all my years as a boxing fan stayed off the computer during taped delayed fights because there was never no taped delayed fight worth staying spoiler free but this is a fight worth not knowing and I will be logging off all boxing sites at 4:30 pm EST and returning after tonight Super Six is over.
I want to be spoiler free. Both fight couldn't be live at the same time anyone because they are emulating from different parts of the world.
Wow, watch Froch Dirrell then Taylor Abraham? It's not hard is it.
How about not going on the internet for a few hours? Not going to kill you is it?
FFS. ****ing disgraceful post.
