Should he retire? I mean 3 KO losses in a two year period is devastating.
Nope cause he has to finish the tournament. And he can just be a good fighter but not a great one
Even if he loses, he gets another chance due to the Super Six tournament.
Unless I'm completely wrong that is and have misunderstood the rules of the tournament.
He should go back down to Middleweight where he belongs.
oh hell no....
the whole reason his rematch with Pav was at 166 is because he was struggling to make weight... his stamina problems will only be worse if he goes down in weight
With the amount of punishment that Jermaine Taylor has taken throughout his career, it wouldn't suprise me to see him sounding punch drunk in a couple years like Hearns, Frazier, Breland, and Meldrick Taylor. So really, he should already be retired.
No matter what happens in the AA fight he has to fight again. 2 fights each.
Yes.
And HE has said even if he loses he will continue fighting in the tournament, see how well he does in his next two fights, and evaluate his career at the end of it all if necessary.
i think that taylor should, if he loses, he should consider getting a different team. as always, with certain fighting styles, i think taylor would benefit from the training and coaching of nazim richardson. i think richardson knows how to focus on a fighters strength at the same time minimizing mistakes, richardson puts together some of the best fight strategies and i think that taylor needs just as much strategy as he does late fight stamina.
at the very least, if taylor learns how to be economical with his punches and if he knew how to tie up to stop any momentum of his opponents, he would fair better when gassed, at the very least.
taylor needs better coaching, period.
I think Jermain should ride out the three fights in the tournament because he's not going to get fights at this level anywhere else is he keeps losing (which I believe he will) tournament or no tournament.
Taylor won rounds 1,2,3,4,5 and 6.
Froch won 7,8,9,10,11 and ko'd taylors ass in the 12th
The point is, He's saying JT don't belong in smw although Froch was seconds away from losing to JT until he caught him.
Should he retire? I mean 3 KO losses in a two year period is devastating.
absolutely.... its in his best interests
he had his time and it was good, but get out before its too late....
however, he gets more than one fight in the tourney doesnt he?? not sure how that will play out
It will be difficult for him to continue if he's KOed tomorrow. However I think he will, since he signed the contract.
But what's left of his confidence will surely be gone.
I feel the same way.
Taylor won rounds 1,2,3,4,5 and 6.
Froch won 7,8,9,10,11 and ko'd taylors ass in the 12th
No way in hell. I was rooting for Froch and he won at most, at most four rounds.
The point of the super six is that 1 loss doesn't eliminate a fighter.
If he loses, he needs to regroup and prepare for the next fight.
More than 1 of the best fighters ever have double digit losses.
He should go back down to Middleweight where he belongs.
Where's Froch belong then? JT gave Froch all he could handle even putting him on his ass for the first time and winning the fight up til the 12th until he got caught.
I hate to say it but he probably should consider retirement. However, he may be contractually obligated to continue but perhaps it would be possible to get out because I believe Green is available as an alternative.
Jermaine just strikes me as a guy who doubts himself when self confidence counts the most. You can see it in his eyes and facial expression during fights when he hits a guy and the guy keeps coming at him; JT has never really been a KO kind of guy. He is still a top notch boxer but maybe more like a B+ instead of an A type boxer.
