Manny Pacquiao knocked down his sparring partner undefeated middleweight Shawn Porter
Oct. 15, 2009 | by Edwin B. Pineda
Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is getting better and regains his unbeatable fighting form. During his recent sparring sessions, the former world champion Jose Luis Castillo was shaken his head because he got beaten too much. The Pacman outclassed his sparing partner, plus he knocked down undefeated middleweight Shawn Porter. On the first round of sparring, porter was badly beaten and in the second round Pacquiao sent him to the canvass. Pacquiao showed them the true spirit of a pound for pound king. This is a good sign for Pacquiao's fans. Porter is 154 pounder, bigger than Pacquiao. Cotto is 147 pound fighter but in their bout both fighters will meet at 145. If you think that Pacquiao do not have the power to put Cotto down, then you better think twice.
Cotto schedules his 13 to 14 weeks training and 8 weeks for Pacquiao. I believe that 8 weeks for Pacquiao is more efficient than Cotto's 14 week. In terms of quality and world class training, I have no doubt that Pacquiao is ready for Cotto on Nov 14th. Behind Pacquiao, great sparring partners and his trainer Freddie Roach. What can you expect to that. On Pacquiao's side, middleweight Shawn Porter (10-0, 8 KOs), Urbano Antillon (25-1, 19 KOs) and former world champion Jose Luis Castillo (60-9-1, 52 KOs). Meanwhile, Cotto’s sparring partners are Francisco Figueroa (20-3, 13 KOs), Fred Tukes (7-1-1, 5 KOs) and Kenny Abril (9-3, 5 KOs)(Francisco Figueroa was sent home for unknown reason and out of the Cotto's camp)
Pacquiao's mechanical fists are ready for the next prey.
come on.
airfare to philippines is only several thousand dollars.
are you gonna check them out when they go back to wildcard?
LOL I don't have several thousand dollars extra to spend on going to the Philippines. I'll do some phone interviews when they come back to America.
This is what I don't get, how does sparring with Pacquiao help Porter if he's getting bounced off the canvas? This is why they have to pay for sparring.
agreed, to me this fight is 50/50. I don't let reports like that skew my view because I know Cotto is an elite fighter.
If your are a philipino then you are one of the few who see this 50/50, says more bout your boxing knowlege that go for a fan coment.
On Nov.14 is going to be old school boxing, real fighting, not a Gayweather run & Duck show.
cmon guys lets not get racial here
let us countdown to the fight of the year on Nov.14:cool2:
