I would assume that a big part of the haggling in the negotiations would be to make sure that Abraham and Froch don't get the normal hometown refs and judges.
Don't want to see Abraham-Taylor reffed by the same guy who helped Yoan Pablo Hernandez up after a knockdown nor does anyone want to see the whole tournament ruined by fat retards like Terry O'conner or Dave Paris.
I really hope that there is a list of 3 or 4 well respected refs and that all Super 6 fights will be reffed by the same trustworthy officials.
I only found out the other day that Wyatt Earp used to be a boxing ref, and a really bad one at that.
He was a referee in Bob Fitzsimmons vs Tom Sharkey, a fight in which Sharkey was KO'd clean and Fitzsimmons was DQ'd by Earp for no reason. Maybe he bet on Sharkey.
I believe Earp always carried a gun with him to "ensure" that the boxers would fight cleanly.
Jersey Joe Walcott's performance in Ali-Liston II was laughable aswell.
He had no idea of what he was doing but then again Walcott never claimed he was an actual referee. Senseless to make a boxer officiate one of the most important heavyweight title fights of all time.
He did referee Patterson vs McNeeley previously and that fight too went out of hand with headbutting, elbowing, low blows, McNeeley being floored about 20 times, etc.
The guy who helped Yoan Hernandez up, ruled it a slip, and then started a count after 10 seconds of hesitation has to be up there.
I remember watching that one live and it was a disgrace. Didn't change the outcome though.
It's not the first time I've seen it happen. If you ever ask George Chuvalo, he'll tell you a story of him fighting Mike DeJohn, knocking him out of the ring, the referee pulling him back up and actually deducting Chuvalo a point. DeJohn must have been KO'd atleast 3 times during that bout with the referee helping him get back up every time.
Possibly the worst referee I've ever seen and I've seen some bad ones.

Tilleman was that bastard from Ottke-Reid.
I remember that mofo,he was terrible. As corrupt as you can get.

Steve Smoger is an ATG ref.
Seems like he mostly works East coast fights though. I wish he'd work Vegas and West coast stuff more often.
Replace that good for nothing Joe Cortez.
Thats the best way to describe him. ATG.
He never puts a foot wrong. Cortez is a shot referee lol
Smoger should definitely be involved as much as possible.
He should ref a semi-final and he should be the man for the final as well.
Definitly man. Actually yeah now that I remember that Italian judge from the Froch Pascal fight he let them away with a lot of rabbit punches too. Both of them were doing it, but I don't remember him making an issue of it.
Roger Tilleman for Abraham vs Taylor and Terry O'Connor for Froch vs Dirrell.
Joking

Very Funny.
A guy like Terry O'Conner getting his hands on one of these jobs could ruin the whole tournament.
They should get quality referees and judges so nothing can ruin the tournament. Not likely to happen but you can always hope.
Cavalleri let a fair bit of shit slide in the Froch - Pascal fight so don't be surprised if Dirrell gets ruffed up a bit when they come in for a hug.
BTW, i'm not a 100% sure it is Guido Cavalleri but he is usually the guy who handles WBC title fights in Europe over the years.
I thought he let Froch get away with quite a bit as well.
Just watching highlights of the night you see at least a half dozen instances of Froch cuffing Pascal behind the neck with his left and hitting him with an inside uppercut with the right.
I call that move "The Lennox Lewis Special"
Smoger??
The man is a legend. Perfect fit for this fight.

It's gonna be a a US ref for Abraham vs. Taylor...as I said, I heard the name Smoger at the beginning of this week, but lets wait for tomorrow's weigh-in...

I'm not worried about judges in the Froch fight cause I dont see it going to the cards either way.
I'm just worried there will be a ref who will let Froch mug Dirrell allowing him to hold and hit and punch behind the head.

I think the ref for the Froch - Dirrell fight is Guido Cavalleri who also did the Froch - Pascal fight?
You don't need to worry about hometown judges either for that fight since WBC draft in judges from all over the shop.

That's who I guessed it would be.
Wonder who will do Taylor Abraham
