It's real. It has even been reported here on Boxingscene.com.

That's right. Perhaps him not saying anything either at that time or now, could be because he pre-fight said that there would be no excuses.
He has later said that the hand caused him no trouble during the fight. I believe the key word here is 'DURING'. The hand was sedated so he didn't feel the pain. The problem was rather that he couldn't spar in the 3 weeks leading up to the fight. Ask any pro and he'd tell you that the most important sparring is just there, so obviously it was a major handicap.Nelson you need a reality check mate ...you need to watch this video ...eveybody knows his loss to calslappy was nothing to do with his hands lol
Just listen to what kessler says at the toward the end!
Kessler would have the best chance, and having already been in the ring with Zaggs once, he'd be better prepared...but beat him? Odds would be pretty low. Zaggs would probably be a 5/1 favorite.
So Jermain Taylor whom already got beat by Froch, whom has shown to gas and not deal so well with persistent pressure and work rate, is the least favourite to win the SMW tourney, is favoured to lose to Kessler, would be favourite to beat Calzaghe, according to 11% of people in this thread?
Nothing short of ridiculous really.
I think Taylor's main problem is his stamina and as a result he succumbs to pressure late in fights. If he didn't have a stamina issue pressure might not be a significant problem. Assuming Calzaghe faced a Taylor who had improved his stamina it would probably be a competitive fight.
in truth the only guy who stands a chance is kessler.
ARTHUR ABRAHAM: AA is stylistically made for calzaghe, calzaghe's would employ a peek a boo style and lateral movement. AA would find calzaghe hard to hit and when he did calzaghe would take his shots. calzaghes naturally loopy punches would mean that AA is being hit more cleanLy than he is used to.
CARL FROCH - tailor made opponent for calzaghe if ever there was one. calzaghe can easily take his punches if he needs to and would virtually land at will
TAYLOR - calzaghes would force the fight at a high pace and JT would gas , the fight may even end in a TKO for calzaghe
DIRRELL/WARD - don't know too much about these guys but right now i think its fair to say that calza's skillset and workrate is at a level that these guys haven't seen.
i think a fully fit and well prepared kessler has a chance of beating joe. the key to beating any southpaw is a good right hand and kess has a good right hand. however the lack of sparring in the build up to the fight meant that his timing and accuracy was off -something calzaghe took advantage of. however even then its very hard to discount joe, he is a hard fighter to pick against.
hahahahahahaha not sure why he would need to. for fun perhaps?

well kessler is a statue in that boxing ring he barely moves. notice how when calzaghe started moving instead of staying right in front of kessler he easily won. none of these guys are that stiff cept maybe froch.
abraham is a master of landing punches between his opponents punches and calzaghe leaves himself wide open when he flurries so we can see how that would end. ward fights somewhat similar to hopkins cept hes not old as dirt so he would have a very good chance.
these guys aren't mario veit or mger mtchkian.
Finally, Didnt know you can analyse fights and style without critising calzaghe, For me He would have an easier time with.
Froch(Just too slow, Would be looking for the KO punch while getting tag with quick combos)..
Kessler(again)..
Taylor(Because he likes to fight at a slower pace and his stamina down the stretch isnt good enough)..
AA (would be hard because of his high guard, defensive stance and durability but Joe C would still outbox him unless he can hurt Joe)..
Dirrell (would be too inexperience for joe to be fair and might get stop late)..
Ward (is the fight that might prove the most difficult because he has a very good amateur background along with a good knowledge of the ring but just like Hopkins he would find it difficult to get joe in the middle to late rounds.)
lets face it daggum, you hate european fighters
your hate effects your common sense
however much you hate him and however much you try and discredit him on here,it wont change the fact that he beat everyone he fought
truth hurts
no you are so insecure whenever someone criticizes any euro fighter you call them a euro hater. and he didn't beat everyone he fought. robin reid and hopkins come to mind. you got his balls so far down your throat it is effecting your eyesight.
yeah dude...thanks for explaining what a slap is to me...haha...my lady does it too me enough...i know the drill by now ;-)
as i said, you want to call calzaghe overrated, then you just have quickly have to call pac overrated...only two world-class fighters i can think of who completely disregard defense and beat dudes up with pure punch volume...
and again...what did people want calzaghe to do, fight one more low-paying fight and beat the shit out of dawson? beat kessler again for peanuts?
paul williams-calzaghe is the fight that would have been great, but williams jacked that scenario up when he lost to quintana...
so you shouldn't fight the best fighters if you can make more money fighting bums? ah the story of calzaghe's career. thank you for putting it perfectly.

calzaghe beats them all and its a shame he still has a lot of haters because of his unconventional style, although i think the hate has more too do with a past prime joe beating up americas past prime legends
who cares,he beat them all
hardly call the hopkins fight a "win" and do i hate all jamaican fighters cause glen johnson knocked roy jones out? no you are just making things up to hide calzaghe's flimsy resume.
Hopkins has the perfect style to beat Calzaghe, Because he waits for opening when landing his right hand and you can do that to Joe to put him off his game, You either rough up joe or take him off his game and Hopkins...Bika are some of the perfect example style-wise to do that.
Most of the guys on the list would try to box Joe like Kessler did and thats why i think Joe beat everyone of them in his prime.

he doe slap though. you know what a slap is? answer is no apparently. its when you punch with the inside of the glove. he clearly does that almost exclusively. only people with eyes will admit this though.

yes keep digging the hole even deeper. none of these guys would beat him cause why? cause you say so? same type of mentality calzaghe fans had his entire career. the calzaghe would win anyway so he shouldn't have to fight any credible opponents mentality is weak. when a 44 year old man beats you in most peoples eyes and sakio bika gives you life and death not to mention robin reid i'm sure some of these guys would have a very good chance to beat him. but then again we will never find out and thats just the way you want it.

when you picture in your mind calzaghe against an opponent in a hypothetical match-up do you imagine calzaghe coming in windmilling and maybe taking some shots but it does'nt bother him as he has a solid chin?
lol, what sort of question is that? Every boxers takes shots and they bloody hurt but they're all use to it and some carries it off nicely.

they just know calzaghe would win cause he has never lost before!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S A VERY SIMPLE FORMULA!
Nobody respects him???? Because he fought his last fight with RJJ for money?? Maybe you dont respect him but i surely do, Am not going to go down the road of who he fought all i know is none of the guys listed up here would beat him not bad for a renown slapper.

and that's why nobody respects him thanks for making my point! he fought a totally shot guy just for money over all the other real challenges he could have took. bottom line he was scared of losing and hopkins made that oh so clear when he escaped with a strange decision win when he got outboxed and couldn't touch his opponent. his legacy is a SD over hopkins where he was totally shut down and a win over kessler. the title defenses is pure shit since almost all of the challengers were not worthy of getting title fights. certainly nothing all time great worthy.

you must not have seen kessler face between rounds after round 5 in the calzaghe fight?
it was the face of a world-class puncher who had no clue how to prevent his face from getting continually punched in...
youre whole "calzagle just slaps" theory ran dry after he out punched a world-class puncher in his prime in kessler...sorry buddy...
