I was hoping that Trinidad (my favorite fighter of all time) would make my top 50. But, I really coldn't put him ahead of any of this guys
pacquiaos been fighting since he was a kid he developed physically into the fighter he is today and i don't consider him to be blown up, but i dont see de la hoya and hatton as the wins other people make them out to be
He was 20 when he won his title. A lot fighters have started fighting in their teens still those same fighters started fighting at 15 or 16 has not been able to do what his done. He might not be the best skilled fighter out there. But, he has something special about him. Almost every fight it seems like his the underdog. Almost every big fight he has. People say there is no way he can win. He has proven a lot of people wrong. And, again nobody can't knock him. Every weightclass he has been in. He has fought the #1 guy. Except in LW. Think about it. at 122. Ledwaba was the #1 guy at the time. Pac took the fight on short noticed and ruined Ledwaba career. at 126, Barrera and JMM fought both. 130 the top 3 Morales, Barrera, and JMM. Fought all 3. at, 140, Hatton KO'd him in 2. He didn't win them all, but he fought the top guy, And, won more than he lossed. And, now he is fighting Cotto a top 3 WW.. And, let me ask you another question. What featherweigh in the last 20yrs could you say would deffinetly beat that version of Oscar?
See the thing about Pac. Is that I think people are really underrating what he has done. Only fighter in history to win 4 linear world titles in 4 different weightclasses. Nobody has ever done that. Name a fighter who won the Flyweight championship and has had any kind of success above 130? His making history bro.

i know for sure you could place him above pacquiao

Ok... I am not saying I am right and you are wrong. Is a hard list to do. I am not sure if I could put Jofre above lik Arhie Moore or Kid Gavilan or even Lamotta. But, Jofre was great. If you have him on your 20 I wouldn't argue. Is a hard list to do. You should try whenever you have the chance. And, I would of loved to see Monzon try another weight-class. But, he was also great. He was unbeated in his wat last 80 fights? If he would of had success at a higher weight-class. I would put him in around 35.

jofre at around 20 and monzon at 35

I stopped at Manny, because I didn't even want to keep reading the list after not seeing Floyd in atleast the top 25.
thumbs down.
Floyd in the top 25? Really? you should do a top 25 list of all time. I am curious how your list would look.
Uh Ali lost to Frazier, beat a paid off Liston. NEVER BEAT NORTON. First of all he got destroyed the first fight, then had two sets of paid off judges say he wont the next two. I will go round by round with you and prove he never beat Norton. Lost to a Spinks what had 7 fights, what a joke. Didnt beat Shavers either. I will go round by round again with you. Haha, why no rematch with Young? Oh yeah, because he also beat Ali. Bonavena was terrible. Boom. And Ali had to cheat to beat COoper. Smelling salts are illegal theres video evidence of him using them. What a joke. Ali often fought guys 40 pounds less than him. What a joke. Knocked down by Chuck Wepner. Beat by a prime Joe Frazier. And then beat a Joe Frazier who after being undefeated won 5 of his last 10 fights. What a joke.
Get out of here troll.
Joe's never been beat. He was amazing. Again Joe Beat Roy, who beat Toney, who beat holyfield, who beat tyson, who beat holmes who beat the hell out of Ali. Get out of here.
Ali has losses and tons of rigged decisions and joke fights.
I would debate you and really beat you but you also think Vitaly is the greatest HW of all time and is unbeatable. So I won't waste my time with the type of knowledge you posses.

Eder jofre 36 and carlos monzon at 49? WTF
Anyone can pick apart these lists but...
Duran should probably be above Leonard...
Whitaker above Leonard?
Pacquiao is too high, and Hopkins above Hagler?
And no Roy Jones...don't like this list...
Like I said earlier I wanted to put Duran higher but I couldn't get that image of the Hearns fight out of my head.
I think Whitake and Leonard are even. IMO Whitaker won all his fights until he ran into Trinidad. And, by that time Whitaker was passed his best.
Pac has done stuff no other boxer has done before.
Hagler above Hopkins as a MW. But, B-hop proved he could have some success at a higher weight. While Hagled didn't. I am not saying Hagler couldn't it. But, we never saw it.
Every single person on my list has claimed a linear title. Roy Jones never won one. He was never the real champion in none of the weightclass he competeted in,
I honestly feel that if JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ was american and not mexican he would be a top 10 in everybodys list cause i remember larry merchant compare chavez to robinson and even lampley alot of comentators would compare chavez to alot of great fighters but went he started losing i think that's went the public forgot all the shit they spoke i have a collection of boxing fight's. I have over 4500 fight in my house and honestly julio cesar chavez was one of the greatest champions of all-time.And the reason chavez was so good was because of the fight's he would fight to stay in shape all those taxi driver that people would claim that were bums. His chin was like iron and he had underrated boxing skills.........guys dont get carried away cause im not mexican my family is from the dominican republic and i was born in the bronx im 29 years old and ive been watching boxing since i was 7 years old and i've seen so much boxing matches over the years that sometimes i feel i see punches flying at me lolol but anyways thats just my opinion julio cesar chavez doen't get the credit he deserves by the american public. Even mayweather jr said that one of the GREATEST fighter's of any era was julio cesar chavez ...By the way i got video fudige of him saying that and the only reason the i dont put old school fight's in youtube is cause i have all my fight's in video and i haven't converted them to dvd so i can't download my fight's to my computer but once i convert my fight's ill start puting fight's in youtube cause there's fight's that i have that i feel nobody has...And like i said im not mexican i just gotta say that to me chavez was a beast in his prime....top 10 in my list the greatest of all-time without a question to me is sugar ray robinson i got great fight's from him and i love his style of fighting...he the best
You right Chavez could easy be top 10. I agree that a lot of people don't give him the credit he deserves. His resume is very underrated.
Of course I would, but to be honest some of those guys Ive only heard about and havent seen a single fight of theirs.
Ok and I do see your point. And, I am such a boxing geek. that I always try to see clips of the old fighters. And, actually I found a lot of clips of this old fighters and I always try to read artciles of these fighters. Anything that I could get info on from the old time I studied it. But, you right is really impossible to know what happened behind the scenes during those times.
Hey J, I can't blame you for omiting some fighters with a great list you've come up with! Yes I am Puerto Rican. With that said I would have to pick Wilfredo Gomez as Puerto Rico's greatest only because I've seen most of his fights as opposed to Carlos Ortiz who I've only read about and discussed about usualy with the older generation. We must not forget Carlos because championship opportunities were'nt always provided to all and if so not legitimately. He made the best of his opportunitties and was an ATG. As far as Tito there's no P Rican fighter past or present who can surpass his popularity. His down to earth persona catapults him in front of all mentioned but give me a well conditioned Gomez in any era. Once again great post!!!
Thanks for your insight but I am still picking Tito dammit lol. I also think is a matter of your generation. Ortiz was fighting during my Grandfighter time. While Gomez wss fighting around my Uncle's time. And, Tito is from my generation and maybe that is the reason I hold him in higher regard than the rest. But, you might be right Gomez is possibly better.
Records dont prove who should be where on a list. You have to have been immersed with boxing during those times to understand the climate of boxing then, who was peaking at certain times, mob influence, different scenarios. Thats like a fan 20 years from now looking at Pacquiao's resume and saying he must be the greatest ever, not knowing the circumstances behind some of those fights.
I know you wouldn't waste your time to put a list. But, if you did you wouldn't put none of the old timers in?
Pacquiao at 29?????
Is it too low? You think he sould be higher? I was thinking at putting him at 25. But, How can I put him ahead of Lamotta and Gavillan. They were beasts in those times. If Pac beats Cotto I will agree with you. I would put him at 25.
Thank you. And, believe me I really wanted to put Tito in my list. I just couldn't find a spot for him.
Carlos Ortiz. I was thinking about him. But, IMO Tito is the greatest Puerto Rican fighter of all time. So if I couldn't find a spot for Tito than how could I find a spot for Ortiz? I mean is hard bro. When you do a list like this. You feel like you starting of good. But, then you realize you getting close to #50 and yet you still have all this fighters but you running out room. A lot fighters would get left out.
But, tito, ortiz, even Wilfredo Gomez. Could be on a top 50 list. But, I just ran out of room in mine.
BTW are you puerto rican if so. In your opinion who is the greatest fighter out of Puerto Rico. I say Tito. But, my uncle keeps telling me about Gomez, and Grandpa use to say Ortiz. But, we not Puerto Rican. So I want to get a true puerto rican opinion I think they got the best insight in this matter
