Showtime To Launch Boxing Reality Series `Fight Camp 360' To Follow Boxers In Super Middleweight Tourney
By R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 10/7/2009 11:03:52 AM
Showtime will debut a new boxing reality series Oct. 10 that will follow the lives of the fighters participating in the network's upcoming super middleweight boxing tournament.
Fight Camp 360: Inside The Super Six World Boxing Classic will chronicle the path of six boxers - International Boxing Federation middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (Germany); Andre Dirrell (United States); World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch (England); World Boxing Association super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (Denmark); former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (U.S.); and Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward (U.S.) - as they battle each other over the length of the tournament, according to Ken Hershman, senior vice president and general manager of Showtime Sports.
Each boxer will fight three bouts against different opponents over a nearly two-year span within the round-robin elimination tournament. The winners of each bout will receive two points, earning one point for fights ending in a draw.
The each episode of the six-part series -- produced by Showtime and NFL Films -- will air around a week prior to a tournament fight, according to Hershman. The introductory episode will outline how the tournament came about as well as chronicle the training camps of the fighters participating in the Oct. 17 doubleheader card featuring the Froch/Dirrell and Taylor/Abraham fights.
"You'll get to see in true form the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, but then also the regrouping and the coming back of the fighters for the next group stage where they'll have the opportunity to continue on in the tournament," Hershman said.
It's no 24/7, but it's better than nothing.

put ''east side'' without the space instead of dots.
Bute wasn't invited.
Don't have a link But Green wasn't either.
This sounds great.
I love the hype this tournament is getting. Showtime is really putting a lot of effort into this. Let's hope that the fighters doesn't drop out.
^^^This^^^ The muscle Showtime is putting behind this is impressive.
Must suck for the guys like Andrade,Bute,Bika or Green who are on the outside of the tourney altough maybe they should be.
The promotion this is getting is out of this world.
I think Bute belongs in the tourney. The man has outclassed both Bika and Andrade (before the 12th) and beat Zuniga more impressively than Pavlik.
Too bad for them too because the idiots at HBO are not interested in the super middleweight division. The only way they get on is if Andrade (GBP) is fighting one of them. They blackball certain divisions, that's why the first Adamek-Cunningham fight and the rematch have been turned down.

Sounds better, b/c you have more different fighters to watch out for getting ready to fight...like a real story as it's outlined for a span of 1 1/2 years...hope the show is airing on SHO with a length of about 45 min...
